The internet is too stressful sometimes, omgYou know, people actually seem to really like Molly, even though she would technically be "ruining" their precious Johnlock. I think it's because they see some themselves in her? Which then makes it even stranger that they'd be against a female Watson. ... I find all this convoluted thinking a bit weird, since Sherlock is essentially all about logic and intelligence. This is why we can't have nice things. Yes I know what you mean.
Hmm... that could be perhaps why they like Molly. Maybe also because she isn't pushy or really oustandingly sexy and everything. I don't know really, from what you tell me about them, I don't think we'll ever know anything about the way their minds work.
I can see why people picked up on Sherlock/John but they seem to be defending it the point if derangement like you said. And NOW I can understand how instead of trying to logically justify why they don't feel a female Watson would work (which I have tried to do, honest ), they have gone all out in a hate campaign because it's messing with their little world (not that I ever went into a hate campaign over Snape/Lily ruining my interpretation of Snape's character, oh no no no ).
So I feel for you and Nurr. You have been tainted by this. And that is not good. *pat pat*

See, I used to ship Sherlock/John--not in the deranged way, of course. It worked if you just left it at a bromance and let the writers put in a couple little lines here and there that made it shippable. But then there were the people that had to harass the writers via Twitter and ask things like "When are Sherlawk and Jawn getting married?" which really put me off of the whole fandom. A shame, really, because I still think it's an incredibly well written and well made show overall, and there are fans that are actually quite intelligent, but the creepy ones have to ruin it. And now we have to share theaters with them for The Hobbit because of Cumberbatch and Freeman oh godAnd don't worry about your justification! You're miles ahead of most of the people I see posting about stuff, as you have no doubt guessed already.

All of this. And it's so nice to come on here and have intelligent conversation.

It is not a good thing that I found this topic.... Alright, my thoughts in a nutshell: I've hated the idea of this show ever since I read an article about it months ago. I'm pretty much a Holmes purist, I guess you could say, I believe Holmes should STAY in the 1800's-early 1900's, and Watson should be a MALE, and they should both STAY in London, because that's how Doyle wrote it!! I cant stand the idea of them setting the story in modern times (which means I only made it through the first 10 minutes of the new BBC version), let alone in New York. And having Joan's character pretty much being Holmes' keeper? Seriously? (Her role supposedly is to keep him sober and out of trouble) Being a huge fan of the stories for 12+ years I'm pretty much stuck in my ways, and I dont see myself changing, and this whole thing irks me beyond belief. And I'm not even going to comment on the Holmes/Watson stuff floatin around out there....I wish there was a smiley that rolled its eyes......

I bet there's gonna be someone behind me in the theatre squealing, "Omg It's Sherlock and John!" during every scene with Smaug and Bilbo. (although that's probably how everyone around me feels when I watch movies like "Flipper" just for Elijah lol ) Naw, as long as im not interrupted while watching the movie nobody will get hurt.

I doubt there's a very dedicated fanbase for Flipper though. Movies like that are made to be watched for the actors, for srs. Oh, and Lithy-- There's your smiley. I had more to post, but my cat is sitting on me and biting my fingers, so I think I need to wrap it up. xD
