Oh that was pretty exciting! And the cinematography [sp?] was amazing! How Ann kept trying to keep herself from being pulling off the bamboo but she ends up swinging herself out into the open hair.
And Kong shows up!!! I was definitely terrified of him at the beginning but at the end --- oh man, did I cry.

Might Joe Young was a disney movie by the way. It's about a big gorilla and a blonde girl too. Except I don't think he's as big as king kong. He's just like a overgrown...well big ape that a girl started to take care of after it's parent's died...I think that's what it's about.

Well, Return of the King turned me into a softy, so I blame PJ for all of this sobbing nonsense.

Excellent review Kit!
I shall now contribute my thoughts, whether you want to hear them or not
First of all, I thought he was insane for making this movie mostly because I never got the King Kong phenomenon and I found the story to be rather...stupid. I only saw the movie because a couple of my friends were going and I though "why not?". Well, it was better then I expected.
Kitoky wrote: They arrive at an island with a use of a mysterious map I found the whole map thing funny; how the heck did he get it? Quote: With Jack Black on board, people have a right to be skeptical of how good the movie will be I was one of the skepitcal people. I thought PJ was out of his mind, but it turns out that he was well chosen, excelent job Quote: eand you really can't help but want to [s]deck[/s] absolutely karate chop him up until he all he can do is crawl away from you by the end of the movie. "I'm someone you can trust, I'm a movie producer." I actually said during the movie to my friend, "Why doesn't somebody just shoot him?" Quote: Naomi Watts, the true beauty and star of the film. I agree that Naomi is a wonderful actress, and very beautiful Another great choice for the film. Quote: Andy Serkis as Kong was done beautifully! Absolutely KUDOS to Andy! Playing TWO characters in the movie. Andy has got to win an Oscar one of these days, he's a genius! I didn't catch the second character he played though Kitoky wrote: Okay but the part where Kong tears open the T-Rex's mouth and kills it like that .... Argh, I covered my eyes. All I couljd think at that moment was "Oh my god, PJ's a SICKO!"
And then he starts playing with it, moving it up and down! I thought that was hilarious!
My complaints (yes you know I've got 'em):
- Too long. Just too, too long.
- The scenes between King Kong and Ann seemed like the same one repeated over and over again. It gets tiring.
- Ummm, why is everything on the island supersized? Is there something in the water?
- The natives just seemed to magically dissapear after their big scene.
- King Kong can fight off three T-rex's no problem! But when it comes to 5 giant bats, it takes him a while
- A bullet seems to hurt King Kong more then a T-rex knawing on his arm.
I had more during the movie; I know they're a lot of technicalitis but still. Overall 7/10.

Yeah, and everytime it's interrupted with airplanes, bombs, other dinosaurs, bats, a nosy Jack Driscoll, etc. Beriadanwen wrote: - Ummm, why is everything on the island supersized? Not just one bullet. Several dozens, I think --- from when they rescue party first encounter him on the tree-log, there were several shots there. Then when he fell into their trap, there were several shots then. When he escaped from the police, several shots, climbing the Umpire State Building - several shots, playing with the airplanes, several shots. Poor guy.

With the bats I think also because it was dark out and he was trying to defend himself and Ann from the bats and also in the process keep Jack away from Ann. I guess he just can't multi-task
Bullets hurt way more on principle. Getting your arm nawed on hurts, but it turns into a bit of an ache after awhlie, but the bullets stay lodged in your flesh and keep reminding you that they are there and hurting ya.
I'm clueless on the map part, but I suspect he stole it from someone...
Skull Island.. its like what Kit said, a fantasty island
I think PJ just likes long movies personally,
The natives might have disappeared cause of Kong's appearance, I mean wouldn't you be frightened of a 25-foot Gorilla, and don't the guys from the boat come and all with guns, and they already have Ann to sacrafice so its all good to them, why both getting killed..
Andy should get an Oscar! He's so awesome!
And Kit I fell in love with Jack Driscoll and the Captain toO!

Tanthoronial wrote: I think PJ just likes long movies personally, Yeah, that's PJ for you. He takes his time developing character [which I like], and then goes onto the action. Some action could've been cut but I would rather see a movie that's worth my while/money rather than a chopped up rushed movie remake. And I agree with Tanth on the natives points -- they thought it was abandoned when they first arrived, so the natives probably went back into their caverns. I would've thought there would be difficulties though if Kong came over to the gate to get Ann Darrow though --- I think with all the years of them surviving Kong, I think they'd be a bit miffed if the foreigners decided to bring Kong to their hideout. [giggles] Hehe. I think I'm more of a Captain Englehorn, unfortunately. But there are no icons of him about

Aww... well maybe you should make a contest for it, and then you can stare at them alll day long,
hmm.. but in a way aren't the natives luring Kong to them? Cause I mean why else would he have come if not for the big bright lights (fire) and loud noises (drums) ? Certainly he's not a psycic 25-foot gorilla?
Yeah, I tend to like long movie, although they are horror when I buy a drink, they really tend to be better, and worth my money. Seeing as the movie tickets around $7 and its like a 15-30 minute drive to the theater that plays like all the released movies.. and ya know.. has really really comfy seats

Lol --- yes comfy seats are a bonus! The interesting thing though -- I think realized that I was slipping down my seat when they were about to capture Kong, so I had to not subtlely just sit up I had to do it slowly....lol because the people behind are probably watching over my head.
Hmmm that's a very good idea, Tanth....a contest with Englehorn....
Long movies are class! Yey for PJ and his long movies! Well yeah, they're luring Kong because they have a sacrifice to him after a while -- probably.
