So I guess Orlando blom and Keira knightly aren't going to be in it.... thats stupid.
So in iother words it's just goin to be Jack, his brother and his dad all fighting amoungst themselves for some stupid reason and in the end it's going to turn out just eachy... well that stinks

We've pretty much known they weren't going to be in it for a year or so now. I think the idea of more about Jack's past is interesting and I think we might get that.
We'll see what happens. I think it will turn out fun.

I'm afraid I can't be very optimistic over this. I dislike the man so much.
And shame on Disney for even thinking of hiring someone who rang up a 78 year old actor on a Radio programme, and left many messages on his answer phone, detailing the sexual encounters he had with his granddaughter on his garden swing, and even saying he would go over and molest him if he didn't answer.
That to me is just wrong. Most of the UK is so angry over the prank phone calls that would be for ordinary people a case in a court and he's now in talks to appear in POTC 4.

^ That was the first comment on the first story. If he's what JF says he is, then I agree. Of course, I can only take her word for it.
What this does look like to me is Disney cashing in on Jack Sparrow. I mean, Jack's father in one scene is one thing, but a whole movie about the adventures of the Sparrow brothers? I think the executives thinking this up were saying, "One Jack Sparrow made a lot of money... let's put TWO in this one!" They really need to realize less is more. The genius of Jack was he had straight characters to play off of. Even Barbossa! Two Jacks running around will only cancel each other out and make the entire movie about funny faces and snappy phrases, which is not the basis of a good movie, even a light, fluffy Disney movie. And then if they add in Zac Efron trailing along screaming "LOOK HOW PRETTY I AM!" then I don't think I'm going to see it.

Well my personal opinion of him is just my opinion, and really it has nothing to do with how the rest of the world should view him. However, what he did was true, he even resigned his job because of it, and I don't see how Disney can hire someone in the wake of such a scandal which has caused major problems for the BBC.
But I agree about Jack. The genius of him was that he was also unique. I personally could have done without knowing anything about his dad so to have his "brother" tagging along trying to be a would-be Jack, is in Jack's own words - not good.

Oh ugh ugh ughmuffin!!!!!!
I agree with JF on Russel Brand, NOT the kind of man I want in a family friendly movie! Would much rather have a herd of Zac Efron's...
Grr.

I compleely agree about the whole jack thing... you can't duplicate Jack sparrow... it won't work.
Stargate SG1 tried to replace Jack Oniel (their main character who made the show what it was) and it was a total disaster they ended up ending the series soon after.
When you have a main character that is unique and works really well, that people love DON'T try to replace them or create an "act alike" it never works!
Jack Sparow shoudl remain unique

I am actually quite relieved. Bot are wonderful actors, but their characters made me want to band my head against the wall repeatedly.

^ I'm actually a little relieved, too. I did like their characters, but their story was really wrapped up in the last movie.
@ JF.... I tend to have a bad opinion of most comedians anyway, so I'm not giving this guy the benefit of the doubt. That story is outrageous and his Wikipedia article describes someone I would not care to know more about. (Perhaps that's a bit closed-minded but I'm not brave enough to watch his act on YouTube. )
Anyway, I completely agree that Jack Sparrow was great because he was unique. I'm shocked that JD is standing for this, actually. He created that character! Now Disney wants to rip it off to make some extra money?

Come on, isn't that all Will did?
Anyway, honestly, I don't see why everyone's believing these articles, and not the ones about Zac Efron. I would tend to doubt both of them.

Aw, don't be ungrateful. Will provided the plot, romance, and a straight man for Jack to play off of. He had a few moments, too. "Aye, avast!"
His character also developed into more than that in the later movies.

Ok ok. Will had his moments. *giggle* And I have to admit that in the last movie he didn't irritate me... that much. Buuut I am Beckett fan. So I forgot there were other actors every time Tom Hollander had screentime.
