Does anyone know yet if LOST is coming back January or February? I've been wondering that. It's probably too early to know, though. But hey - they started filming a couple days ago! :bye2:

January, I think. I know! Wasn't this the first week? So exciting to think about...

ACK! Last night I finished Season 2! WOW! I wasn't expecting it to end so soon!

(Yes, I am going to end every sentence with an explanation point!)

Wow. Again. The second season was just SO GOOD. I was expecting it to be like the initial sequel: okay, but can't compare to the original (first season.)

But dang. It was so great! The new characters, the new mysteries, the multiple hatches, Desmond flashback in the finale, the tailies, Ben being AWESOME...

Speaking of Ben being awesome. I have to say--from the moment we first met 'Henry' he was very convincing. He seemed much more like a crashed balloonist than the Other we know and love. But then at the end of The Whole Truth, when he starts talking about what he would do, if he was an other, about a trap and such, and he got this little smile...
I was like YES! Ben has ARRIVED! :D

And may I say, Eko pwns. Majorly.

And ClairexCharlie. Awwwww. And then...aww.

And craziness! Locke losing his faith? What is this? When he talks to Eko it sounds liek JAck talking to him! Insanity.

And back to the beginning, the fist episode of the season was just so great. And it tied into the finale so wonderfully.

I <3 Desmond.

And...I knew what happened in Two for the Road, but when I saw that it was the next episode, I was just shocked. It happened so soon! And...oh, goodness, poor Libby. Poor Hurley! And Ana, I wasn't happy to see her go either. I would never imagine Michael would do that...I guess Michael wouldn't have either.

But I love how Sayid caught on pretty much automatically. Go Sayid. :)

ANYWAY. Can't wait for Season 3, or season 5 either!

The funniest thing is how I've got my family SO hooked. My mom said she couldn't sleep after the night we watched the finale, she just had to think! And my sister talks about it all of the time around other people, and at exactly the awkward times too. It's so funny. And my dad! He was the latest to catch on but when we talked about taking a break when school started he was entirely adamant we watch at least one a night. We just HAVE too, he said. they're only 45 minutes, right?

:P I love my family sometimes.

So, what, is this place going to turn in to Rin's Personal Lost Blog?
Where are you other crazy Losties at? :psycho:

Anyway. We started Season 3 today! We watched the first three episodes in one night.

I'm beginning to wonder if this whole four-episode-chunk thing is an unheathy viewing experience. I mean, they're supposed to be one at a time, if not one a week. Maybe we're going through it too quickly.

At any rate. The first episode was great--I liked the beginning, same idea as Season 2 (but Season 2 remains the best premiere episode ever.) Although knowing who Juliet was sort of ruined it. :P Jack going crazy in flashbacks, interesting.

Speaking of flashbacks...they're starting to feel unneccessary. Like the characters already HAVE backstories, now all this additional stuff is just too much. (Locke grew weed? Really? Because his dad issues just weren't interesting enough for one guy's life?) So I see why the flashforwards came in handy.

And Locke' dream in 3x03 was really interesting--the dream and all. The symbolism was so cool.
But when Boone said, regarding Claire, Charlie and Aaron, "They're fine...for now" I just about cried. For now...

And in the future Aaron's raised by Kate?! And Charlie is *sob* and Claire's practically a zombie?

Erg. Third season's going to go by far too fast.

Yeah, Henry/Ben was AWESOME, wasn't he? The thing is - I myself loved season 2, even though when I watched it on DVD for the first time, I already knew the general storylines, so the season didn't have as much an element of surprise. (I didn't become a fan until after season 3 ended. I know - I'm a really young fan, and can't compare to some of you veterans out there! :-D Still, I loved season 2 when I saw it again, even in spite of knowing exactly what would happen and who would die.

He ended that episode with the line, "So, you got any milk?" or something like that, I remember. :-D Typical Ben.

~RinielAranel~ wrote:

Agreed! After seeing the episode The 23rd Psalm, I heaved a huge sigh of admiration for and satisfaction with the development of his character. I loved that episode. The reason why I enjoyed his character as much as I did was because he was one of the very few characters whose flashbacks took us all the way to when he was an innocent child. By showing Eko being taken away as a child clued us in to why he became the seemingly heartless drug runner. It just seemed like we got a more absolute picture of him. (We don't see as much in Kate's flashbacks - for example - how does an innocent young girl grow up to have the guts to kill her father, abusive as he was?) But with Eko - we can understand why he is the way he is, and how he became who he is. That's why I loved his character - it seemed complete.

And his relationship to Yemi is wonderful - from the time he was forced to kill a man, to the exchange of the necklace with the cross, to the false priesthood incident, to the helicopter incident, to the second exchange of the cross, to the time of his visions of Yemi. Wonderful, wonderful writing.

I, too, found the whole twist of faith interesting. It was a new layer to Locke's character. The thing I was realizing was that Eko was becoming The New Locke - the stronger man of faith. And that was kind of undermining Locke, I thought, since up until then, Locke was considered to be THE man of faith on the island. And with Eko, there were now kind of TWO men of faith.

I, honestly, wasn't happy to see Ana go either. I mean, I know that a lot of people hated her, but I thought that it'd be nice to have kept her around a bit longer. I just wasn't thrilled that so few of the season 2 characters stuck around (Libby, Ana, Eko.) I just thought that there were some unexplored potentials.

GO SAYID! Haha, the thing is, I love Sayid because I always feel that I can trust him. I don't feel the same way with, say, Jack, especially in the middle of season 3 when he started getting mixed up with Juliet and the Others. But I've always felt that I could always rely on Sayid. He's like a trusty second-in-command, and at the same time, he's an independent leader himself. Go Sayid, indeed.

:) Does your family know the outcomes of season 2 and 3 already, as you do, or have they not seen season 4 before?

Me, I only got my sister to watch LOST. She's a fan of Heroes mostly, but admits that the quality of writing in Lost is much better.

~RinielAranel~ wrote:

Actually, I think that it could be better watching a bunch of season 3 episodes at once. I know that many have complained that the earlier episodes of season 3 were pretty slow - but if you watch four episodes per night, I'm sure you wouldn't feel the slow pace as much, since you can just barrel right to the next episode, one after another.

The last third of season 3 is AWESOME, though, so maybe you can savor it by separating the last few episodes and watching one per night.

Yeah, that was partly my problem with much of season 3. Things were getting redundant. But now, in retrospect, I could understand what the writers were going through - they had to stretch out the flashbacks all the way up until the season 3 finale before they could start working with flashforwards.

Hey, I didn't become a fan until Season 4! I'm really young. :teehee: And before I watched Season 4 I read a summary of every single episode up until that point. So nothing really suprises me. But that doesn't change the awesomeness of ANYTHING. It's all so great. Plus it's very easy to imagine what it would be like without knowing what's going on (why I love the first episode so much ;) ) I would watch every season again! It's like a movie--every time you watch it you notice something new. it's not just about WHAT HAPPENS, it's how it happens.

Yup, pretty much. :) Eko is a character that makes sense-where he is meshes with where he's been. I can't say the same for a lot of the characters. (It's funny you brought up Kate, because she comes to mind. It's like she's simoltaneously our happy every-girl who we're supposed to sympathize with, and then...a manipulative selfish murderer? The twist was cool at first because you thought it would make sense or she would change or something. but then...it didn't. :P )

Elberethsq wrote:

Haha. :teehee: Me, not so much. I stay out of the main love triangle for the most part but I guess I'm more likely to sqee at Skate stuff just cause I like Sawyer considerably more than the other two characters involved. :P

Definitely. Just when you thoguth Locke was the ultimate when it came to DESTINY! and stuff, here comes Eko, who tells HIM not to put things on coincidence and instead to rely on fate! It was really interesting seeing that.

Yeah. SOrt of ironic that Bernard winds up being the ONLY surviving memeber of the tail section. I wish they'd kept more of them around.
And what's with the Ana hate? I don't like her that much but I don't think I've ever wanted a character gone. (Except Nikki and Paulo...ugh...they just showed up out of nowhere this episode. LAME.)

YES! I've always felt the same way. Sayid is someone who I can almost always trust as a leader. He doesn't get too big-headed or cling to matters of principle like Jack, and he isn't as unpredictable and unsafe as Locke. He always seems to have the best judgement.

Elberethsq wrote:

Mostly. They saw the second half of Season 4, so they know some things, but I think they're so confused they don't really get it.

Example: today my mom and I were discussing it. She really doesn't get the whole Others-Dharma-Widmore connection. So she asks:
Okay. Let me get this straight. the leader of Dharma was the one visitng Locke when he was born, right? (Richard Alpert.)
Um, no, mom. He's sort of a leader of the others.
Oh? But...then Widmore is with the Others, right? He helps them from the real world?
No, mom. Widmore is Ben's archenemy and is trying to find the island. He sent the freighter team there.
But, aren't the Others, like, the Dharma initiative?
No, mom. The Others destoyed Dharma. They've been there pretty much forever.
But that makes no sense.
Yes, mom.

Well, I guess we'll see. It depends on how desperate my family is to see the end. :P

Hm, let me think...I actually can't recall a specific time crying during Lost. I think I have before, but...was it back in Season 1? I don't remember.

All of Seasons 1, 2 and 4, and three episodes of Season 3.

Oh, there there, JF. Lost is always worth the agonizing breaks between.

Speaking of which, I don't care what people say! Spoilers=<3. Went of a Season 5 frenzy today. Sooo exciting. :) Sooo exciting it's even worthy of multiple oooos.

AND random note.

I'm watching the tail end of Season 3 right now. (Ack! so depressing...I can't nearly be done! Nooo! What will I do until January?) The characters are getting so interesting! Particularly Juliet. (The last episode I watched was 'One of Them'.) Watching Juliet in the fourth season, I didn't like her much. But having seen her whole story now I find that I've stumbled upon becoming a Juliet sympathizer. I'm no Jacket fan, mind you. (Shipping Jacket is like shipping Eowyn/Aragorn to me...it's sad and I sympathize with the girl but it's just not meant to be.) But somehow I find myself able to relate to her entrapment on the island, her powerlessness compared to Ben, her initial desire to do be involved in something important and perhaps mysterious, and the fact that she's a double agent. No clue why. But for some reason she just makes sense to me...more so than, say, Kate.
Anyway. Also, Ben and Locke are getting very interesting. Locke, it seems, is still naive--though he had a point when he pointed out he wasn't the one in a wheelchair. Ben, meanwhile, is far from pure villian. (My family--my mother particularly--disagrees on this. She finds Ben very 'creepy' and the ultimate evil; but then again, she doesn't like Juliet and prefers Kate...) Anyway. Ben obviously has selfish desires in him but more than that, it seems, is his dedication and service to the Island. Like Locke, he was full of ideals and destiny at one time. Everything he does, he believes, is to help the island; sometimes his actions seem horrible and wrong but he does everything for what he thinks is the greater good.
I think.
At any rate, it explains why he wants to help John: he realizes that the Island has chosen him. I'm really looking forward to future Ben and Locke-ish episodes, especially the Man Behind the Curtain! First Ben flashback! So awesome. :)
But I can't stand to think where Season 3 is headed Charlie-wise...especially after how sweet he and Claire were in this last episode. (When she got sick.) AHHHHH. DENIAL!!
And may I say the episode where Hurley conned Sawyer into being nice to people was marvelous. YAY for awkwardly nice Sawyer and YAY for clever Hurley. :D The more I watch Lost the more of a Sawyer fan I am. Not fan-girl, mind you, but he's always so funny and often quite brave--he can seem more good-hearted than Jack at times.

Anway. The ramblings of my third-season experiences.
Four months (ish) until Season 5!

JF; I'm out of it too. Due to some verrrry frustrating circumstances, I never got to see the season finale. (And I refuse to read about it...) So I prolly won't get to see it until Christman. Boo.

Rin: I'm so glad your family has joined the Lost side! :D That's brilliant... truly... though it beats me how anyone can hold out on Lost. :P I don't think it's unhealthy to cram... though since I started watching it from the very pilot, I've had to do my waiting every week. :P About flashbacks... definitely agree. I think that's why they started flash forwards in season four... because we'd pretty much explored every important event (and a ton of random) in the main characters lives.

Elbe: Well... I've cried on a lot of Lost episodes. Especially 'death' ones. I cry when Jack cries too... so that's frequently. :P But the one scene that really stands out where I was soooo crying was in season one where Charlie is hung from the tree by the others... and Jack just wouldn't give up trying to bring him back. Best. Scene. Ever.

PD: Yay, a new Lostie! I've been admiring your sig since you put it up. :teehee: Balathor, yesh, another awesome Lostie. Season two is my favorite... you'll love the new charries. XD

Oh, Rin, if you read ANY spoilers concerning Daniel Faraday... I want to hear them. :P I don't care how big they are.

Well, FM, spoilers are on the way:

Dan was spotted, along with Juliet, Sawyer, and Miles, doing filming on a beach set for one of the first few episodes. So it appears the raft did travel with the island, and Dan has found his way back to the island. Which means...more Daniel and Charlotte drama in the fifth season? Who knows. I'm just happy Dan's around! :D

Without spoiling anything, I shall express myself through an emoticon.

:jump:

Thanks RA! Now I'm really looking forward to the fifth season. Daniel has just been like... hmm... how shall I say it? Well you know how JF said her love of Lost was dying out, and then there was Ben, and then POW! love returns? Well that's what Mr. Faraday's character did to me. After Charlie's death, I kind of got out of the Lost circle. Yay for the geeky awkward scientist!

Oooooh, so many loverly Lost spoilers! I do love my spoilers… lol and that ep where Hurley cons Sawyer into being nice sounds AWESOME, RA! I cannot wait!

FM, awww, thanks! I’m glad you like it. :P yup, he is… yeah, I hope so. Although the original charries may always have a warmer place in my heart. We’ll just have to wait and see. :D ;)

I/we really need to catch up to you guys! my brother and I are only almost done with season one and here you guys are already anticipating season 5. By January I hope we're through all the seasons... even though after Charlie dies I'm probably gonna be a mess. Maybe I'll just skip that ep and go on like it never happened. either way I want to be up-to-date when January comes. At least Sawyer, Hurley and Claire are still alive, right? the other four charries I like (other than Boone... but he dies early on so yeah. And that is only so far too ;)). :P although actually (even though I know I'm a little late for talk like this... I am ashamed that it took me this long to get into it...) so far there's only one character I really don't like... Kate.

Haha, totally agree with you about that last part there. ;) NOTaKatefan. And, agh, watching Charlie die is horrible. I cried so much during that episode...and I think I actually cried more during Greatest Hits. I can't stand him not being there. It's just...ugh. :'(
Haha! I love the same characters you do. :D And yes, though they are separated by the fourth season, those three are alive...well, mostly. I don't know if you've heard about Claire's ambiguous status yet. :(
And don't worry about being behind, you'll catch up real fast. It's quite sad how fast Lost goes by actually. :teehee: I just can't wait for January! Granted, I hate watching seasons as they come out...after watching 1-3 on DVD, one episode a week feels like slow motion. :P
