matthew bourne's swan lake. one may argue it's not a film, but whatever. it was soooooooo amazingly beautiful and powerful - it's made me go right giddy. matthew bourne is a genius and adam cooper is just...well, he sends shivers down my spine when he dances.

X3! (huggle)
Ah, I'm afraid I'm becoming more obesessed with the X-Folks than I am with LotR. Which is a little... bad, I mean, I'm a die-hard ringer, I have a special shelf for all of my LotR stuff.
Okay, never mind, take that comment back. I'm still a giganormous ringer.
But I still <3 the X-men. A lot.

we had a film night in our flat tonight, and we watched:
what's eating gilbert grape? nothing spectacular, but i enjoyed it. johnny depp wasn's anything special, but leonardo di caprio was superb. ignoring titanic, which he could have done sleepwalking, he's proved himself to be a fantastic actor.
v for vendetta 'twas alright, but not as good as i was hoping for. there were several americanisms (like "elevator") which were totally out of place given the film was set in england, natalie portman's english accent offended me, and i thought they focused too much on the persecution of gay people and not enough on the persecution of other groups (it just seemed like someone was trying to make a very specific point there).
peter pan (live action version from 2003) the plot doesn't stick close enough to the book for my liking (the end in particular annoys me because you don't see him come back to find wendy grown up), but the characterisation is better than in any other version and there's a great chemistry between peter and wendy. still a little disturbed by the incestuous undertones though.
