It was an exteremly well done movie, but it wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the book. Plus, I felt the characters were very 21st Century-Americanized. They enforced the lesson that every movie now has of "family."Example: Professor Kirke-- "You're a family, aren't you? You might just start acting like one." So there's that whole thing going on through the film of, "Oh, we have to come back together as family and stop bickering so we can defeat all of evil on our own." There really wasn't anything like that in the book. They didn't fight half as much as they do in the film.
Well, seeing that the book was only 200 pages...in the book, you actually don't see any of the battle...really. Yeah, after I saw it again last week, I reread it...and there isn't much of the whole family thing. After reading The Magician's Nephew and TLTWTW, I realized that the MOVIE wasn't as...well...I hate to say it because I know I'll get blasted for it...but sexist. The MOVIE gave the female characters more...just more in general, and I can understand why, in the world that we live in today...but I won't get into political/religious views here. That's not what this is for...if you MUST discuss it, then PM me.
The movie, is, shall we say, more action packed. Ha ha ha. Gotta keep people entertained somehow... :P

I saw it twice in theaters, and now own it on dvd. I've been watching it so much, I haven't seen LOTR for a long time. I still love LOTR, though now not as much as I did.

*the next day*
OMG it was hillarious!!! For the first part my parents & younger sis were like, 'ew, I don't want to watch them TALK for the entire movie. You can't even hear it!' They left as I watched the first part, only to come down about halfway through and ask, 'so, is it boring?' within minutes they were as hooked as I.
1. CHECK THE GATE!!! LOLOL!!! *ahem* that certain aspect of the bonus features was rather hillarious. I loved how the kids could be so real with each other.
2. Wow, Georgie is so smart! Who would've guessed? That was so funny when she sat down and started doing trig just to figure out the angle they needed to look upwards...what is she, nine?
3. What happened to Mr. Jingles? I need to know!
4. I love the pottymouth bucket idea...very smart, little Georgie is.
5. It was hillarious during the battle scene when Skandar randomly shouted "STOP! Now look at me!" During his fight scene with the witch. "Look at me! NOT WILL!" Lol, poor guy, having to compete with William. I love how he signed off at the end: "This is Skandar Keynes, remember, I'm the cool one."
6. I love their british accents! They keep on saying, we're just 4 normal kids...and I'm like, no you're not! you've got british accents! I guess it's not quite that big of a deal for yall from england but it seemed VERY surreal to me. my mom could barely understand anything they said, but I got most of it. hehe.
Favorite Quote: "My name is Phillip."
I loved that so much. I've got to get into the movie buisness someday.

I loved it, but I take movies for what they are. I don't think they owe anything to the book on which they're based on, simply because you'll never be able to accomplish the same state of being as when you read, so I just judge them separately. Love the movie, and love the books, each in their own way.

Why do you hate it? I'm just curious to hear it from a different perspective.
Very well stated Eruadan!
