You too, Darky? I always thought *I* was the only one! No, seriously, I ran around on all four limbs a LOT when I was 4 years old.
I was an uber-sensitive kid when I was younger, so my mom didn't let me watch some of the more "dark" Disney movies (Sleeping Beauty is one, The Hunchback of Notre Dame another, and apparently Beauty and the Beast scared me when I was younger too), and I didn't like a lot of the "silly girly" Princess movies, except occasionally Cinderella. That left me with Aladdin and The Lion King. Which might sound weird, seeing as Jafar and Scar are two of the scariest Disney villains known to man - I say this now, as a teenager...honestly, those guys are insane - but I absolutely adored those movies to death when I was little. I didn't end up watching the snake fight in Aladdin till I was about 14 cause it freaked me out as a kid, but I still loved those movies. Apparently I had an Aladdin and Jasmine birthday cake when I was 6, though I unfortunately don't remember this...
Peter Pan is the only Disney movie I can remember that didn't scare me in one way or another when I was younger. (Bambi, unfortunately, traumatized me because of the forest fire scene.) Mulan I fell instantly in love with when it came out, because I'm actually half Chinese and even though it strays from the legend, I like the way they did it. And Beauty and the Beast is now one of my favorites, due to the fact that I'm so much like Belle it's scary. Ironically, that movie came out about 6 months before I was born...creepy.
And does nobody remember Oliver and Company?!

Vaguely remember Oliver and Company. It was one of the movies we would rent from the library but never owned. But I remember liking it.
How about the Great Mouse Detective? That's still one of my favorite movies, but it's so forgotten...

Dude, the soundtracks are the best part of the movies. I gotta say, Disney movies always have excellent soundtracks.

Disney old-school is the best =P Theres stuff like Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks that I LOVED. Just because they were happy and musical. I officially love ALL musicals.
I actually went to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway about three months ago, and I LOVED it.

^No kidding? I'm so jealous! Murphy's Law says the instant you want to go see a Broadway musical, it's going to be pulled from the roster.

Lucky! I've wanted to see it because "Home" is one of my favorite songs and "If I can't Love Her" is one of my sisters.
I also wish I could see The Little Mermaid Broadway....what little I have seen is totally awesome!
But yeah, old-school Disney all the way. The newer stuff's ok, but nothing beats the classics.

The Disney Princesses also have a huge role in the main story. I'd recommend it to any casual gamers who love disney.
I like Kingdom Hearts Is there a thread here in AU about it?

Street rats do it better.
And I can't believe Beauty and the Beast is getting replaced!! Grr. I really wanted to see that.

Yeah, Disney's taking it off Broadway and putting The Little Mermaid in its place. And, I mean, The Little Mermaid's great and all, but I would so much rather see Beauty and the Beast.

I have said this before and I guess I'll have to say it again..... *ahem*...
Beauty an the Beast is my favourite Disney film. Ever. Disney didn't know it at the time, but he really was on a mission to make in the early 90's a cinema masterpiece. Not just an animation masterpiece, but a masterpiece.
It has the singurlarly best song of pretty much any darn film that features songs - Be Our Guest. The entire sequence is the most jaw-droppingly amazingly-superbly-awesomely scene in any Disney film. It is fantastic. The characters.... Lumiere and Cogsworth.. 'nuff said. You have a leading lady who is neigher warrior, or sickly sweet but is just someone who is nice and not too much of that either. The story is magical and visually it is stunning. All the songs are amazing, I like every single one, which for me, is an amazing feat in itself, as there is usually one I am not fond of.
Disney for me, will never better itself. Some of the classics to me, do not equal Beauty and the Beast, I can understand why they hold a special place in people's hearts but... no.
Beauty and the Beast on stage was pretty gosh darn brilliant as well. I wish I could have seen more (seats in the middle and me without my glasses back then), but I had a great time. The Be Our Guest number was amazing. Dancing forks = love.

Heck, I'd like to see either of them. I guess I'm more of a Little Mermaid fan...and Sierra Boggess makes an amazing Ariel! If not Jodi Benson, Sierra would be my second choice. But I didn't think there were taking Beauty and the Beast completely off Broadway.

Yes yes yes! Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite. Plus, the story is awesome. It isn't like the princess movies where they fall in love at first sight. No. She hates him, is frightened of him, and doesn't "want to have anything to do with him." But after they get to know each other and get along, they find out they're in love. It's just wonderful! There's character depth! And change!

^ I agree. It has a really strong story unlike a lot of Disney films actually. And it makes a change that she doesn't all in love with a normal human and she doesn't fall in love with him straight away.

The story is what I love about Beauty and the Beast, too--as well as the music! Plus I love Belle's character. Not particularly rich or poor, or rebellious or sweet, she's an average bookworm who I can relate to.
And now for something completely different. Did anyone else watch Mulan on ABC Family a few days ago? Totally guilty.

I love Belle too. A down-to-earth but dreamy person who wants more but loves her father and books. Not a typical princess.
What? Mulan was on and I didn't see it? *shrieks* That is the one I really really need to add to my Disney collection, since I love it so much. Nurr ish sad now. But that's awesome! *goes off singing Mulan songs*

Well, I like all the princesses and heroines, and Belle is ok, but I guess my fave is Ariel. And Cinderella too. Maybe it's because I find her very elegante and she's smarter than, say, Snow White or Aurora.
But as heroines, my top fave are Pocahontas, Esmeralda and Mulan. I guess because they are fighters and well, they are a some of the oldest heroines in the company(Well, they seem adult women, the princesses except Cinderella and Belle seem to be teenagers, Cinders and Belle, with Meg and Jane too, seem young women, between teenagers and real women)
Giselle is also fun. She's so cute and goofy . Daisy and Minnie are also cute
BTW, has anyone here seen The Prince of Egypt? I know it's not Disney but it's an excelent film. It has an amazing soundtrack!
And remember, Disney did more than princess films! There's Hercules, Lion King, Hunchback, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan...

Ooh, Prince of Egypt is a good one. I adore the music for it. "Deliver Us" anyone? *dies* Just...the entire movie is awesome. And if we're going back to the good looking animated characters....
Yeah, but the princess/kind of princess ones are the most popular. Everyone has seen them and remembers them. I've never seen Hercules or the Hunchback the whole way through, and haven't seen Lilo and Stitch at all. Peter Pan! Captain Hook! That was a good one. And 101 Dalmatians! Oh, and the music to Fantasia. I remember that movie as being totally weird, but having such cool music.
Oh, at the store today I saw the Love Bug Collection and the Apple Dumpling collection. Hoorah for old live action! I wanted to get them, but that of course takes money. But I definitely loved their old live ones. Pre 1980, as it's decided on the Ultimate Disney website.
