i don't like TC at all(except perhaps in the last samurai and minority report). and my opinion on the movie was that it was pretty pathetic. The aliens and blood-landscape was pretty cool.. but thats about the only thing that appealed to me. I think the WotW original musical -thingy was better.. i mean the picture it put in my mind was a lot better than what the movie gave me.. but thats my opinion.

I loved the special effects, but I couldn't get away from how blatantly they ignored the original novel...

1. The Martians traveled from Mars to Earth with their machines and immediately started the attack.
2. The Martian Heat-Ray was something similar to a laser that set everything on fire; it did not transform people to ash while leaving their clothes intact.
3. The Martians used other and much cooler weapons than the Heat-Ray.
4. This was not a few hundred people shuffling quietly towards a ferry; this was millions of panicked, unarmed, and unprovisioned people rushing headlong away from the Martians, and being massacred at every turn.
5. They cut out the Thunderchild.

The only way to make a good, successful WotW movie is to follow the book word for word.

I was expecting it to be horrible, so I was pleasantly surprised. Not amazing or anything, but not too shabby. :)
