Oh goodness. :teehee: When you put it that way my obsessions seem to be a bit same-y as well.

That's because those kind of people make the best characters and we are suckers for them. :D

I love Septimus' dry humour as well and sarcasm. "South you said, and south we went. Do you know propose we start swimming?"

I especially loved the scene when he pretended to be dead so Primus thought he was king. :P So nice to have someone who is dressed in black and misunderstood actully laughing and having a good time.

What I love most about Septimus is that when the ghosts disappear at the end (when Tristan picks up the jewel) all the other brothers' little floaty lights turn white and go up whereas Septimus' goes red and down...

I never actually noticed that in the film, I read about it later.

Personally, that is the only thing wrong with Stardust/Septimus. I don't believe he deserved to go "down there" as his other brothers killed one another, and his father killed 12 of his brothers. I also don't see him anymore ruthless in his pursuit of the stone, but Primus was the only other one in contention and he was a bit of a drip. I think if more of his brothers had been alive by comparison, I don't think he would have been any more determined than them.

I mean, Secundus at least killed one of his brother (Quartus) and being frozen to death is noway near as quick and clean as poison.

And I also believe if any of them had been alive to find out about Yvaine, more of them would have been after her as well.

Septimus is a pretty amusing character---but I never figured him as 'misunderstood' because I think it's quite clear what he wanted.

And what kind of person he is.

But when he walked in on Captain Shakespeare on the ship. Oh I cried from laughter.

Misunderstood is a term I use for my own personal.. er... reasons. Namely, they are not understood by the people around them, and they need a nice red-haired female who does understand them and can make them slightly less.. villainous... :P

I think the fact he had some humour though says something about him, as a lot of anti-villains don't have a sense of humour and are pure evil. I don't think he's like that.

XD The look on his face was priceless. Completely stunned.

i love this film sooo much. i expected to hate it, but a friend dragged me to the cinema to see it, and i just fell in love with it. it looks amazing, the music's great, it's funny and swashbuckling, and it doesn’t require vast amounts of brainpower to watch. pure enjoyment!

you have to admit though, it has the weirdest cast list ever – frankenstein’s monster, catwoman, beth from little women, the guy from the pilot episode of lewis, inspector lynley, three members of the cast of green wing, the concierge from hotel babylon, a brummy, and ricky gervais.* it was really odd seeing a whole bunch of a-list stars, then some random actors from british telly. cool though.

i get the mark strong thing, but i have to admit i have rather a soft spot for charlie cox. he’s just so sweet and scrummy. it’s strange because i normally like the older guy, and i almost never like the hero, and i don’t generally go for sweet guys, but there you go.

i think my favourite moment of the film was when they managed to spoof phantom of the opera and only fools and horses at the same time (when they tried to cut down the chandelier, but the wrong one fell down, and as it fell there was the chord from the opening of phantom). that moment epitomised the variety of influences that made the film so great, and it made me chuckle.

*that’s robert de niro, michelle pfeiffer, claire danes, charlie cox, nathaniel parker, sarah alexander, julian rhind-tutt, mark heap, dexter fletcher, mark williams, and ricky gervais.

Ha, I never noticed the Phantom of the Opera bit there. I'll have to watch that again. And I seriously shrieked when Nathanial Parker came on. I was like, "IT'S INSPECTOR LYNLEY!"

I admit that I love Tristan because he and my RP character are pretty much twins. :D

Oh, I didn't figure it to be a PotO spoof. Just the continuing zanyness of the entire film.

Haha the PotO spoof went completely over my head. I'll have to look out for that the next time I see this fantastic film.

I agree with you, ethelfleda - Charlie Cox is just such a sweetheart and he's my main eye-candy in the film. I loved him in Casanova as well (maybe even more since his hair is so long and lovely there lol).

^ i love him in casanova too, especially the bit where he's trying to challenge casanova to a duel, and he keeps hitting him with the glove. and sweetheart seems the perfect word for him.

mabe i just imagined the phantom reference. i swear there's an organ chord, but if no one elso noticed...

Ah, well. If no-one elses loves Septimus then that means I don't have to share.

*locks the door and throws away the key*

*ahem*

I haven't seen Stardust since September and it makes me saaaaad. :'( BUT I just bought it on DVD so hopefully within the next week (that's if my eBay seller is nice to me) I should have it and watched it..... and I can drooool over Septimus and become more familiar with his awesomeness.

^Lol, JF. Same here. I haven't seen Stardust since summertime and am feeling nostalgic for it now.

Tristan was a good character, and I liked Charlie Cox in the sense that he actually somewhat resembles Ben Barnes (who tends to be swoon-worthy in his own right), and because he does such a good job with his character. It's brilliant.

Gotta say though, my favorite character is still going to be Captain Shakespeare.

Let's put it this way.... I for one will never look upon the Can-Can the same way again. :P

Yeah, he was actually good as Tristan. Don't care for him as much as some of you, but it was nice to see him actually act and certainly his character became older and more mature, which worked well and he acted it all very well.

Terribly sorry, but you will have to share

*finds key, unlocks the door and steals Septimus*

"Another question. Is my favourite colour blue?" I love how he says that  And then when he throws the runes up into the air  and it switched to Lamia... that's my favourite scene... (don't ask why, it just is :eyeroll: )

Oooo.... when Ricky is doing his bird squawking thing when he's being questioned look at Mark Strong's eyes. It's hilarious how much he's trying not to laugh
