Arwen the webmaster wrote: I KNOW! That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that picture Sheesh...he even LOOKS slightly like Mark Hammill... I prefer Mark Hamill, though Meldawen wrote: Hey, the book wasn't overly original, why should the movie be?
You're right. The book is a mixture of LotR and Star Wars, and so will the movie be. It's kind of sad that no fantasy writer is able to come up whith something new

If you want new fantasy, read "Singer of All Songs" by Kate Carpenter. It's the first GOOD fantasy I've found written in the twenty first century.
Okay, after that shameless plug...
What's all this about Star Wars? I must have missed it.

For the starwars joke, scroll up and take a look at the picture. It bears a similarity to a certain scene in Starwars.
Also, for really good fantasy, I suggest books by Ursula K. Le Guin. She is an awesome fantasy writer.

I suggest the Wheel of Time books, although they're several years old Yaaaay WoT... ^_^
Um. Ya. Dragon-rider girly-man!
Hey, look on the bright side: at least he's not wearing a bright blue leather vest in the actual movie. It appears that was just a colorized version for the poster-thing.

(Sorry! The picture didn't show up the first time I looked at it.)
I dunno...a lot of movies have people sitting in a field, thinking. I don't really see it as stealing off Star Wars, and if that makes him a girly man, then I guess I like girly men. Intellectual is good, people.

I think it's not just the Eragon-looking-pensive aspect that's reminding everyone of Star Wars, but the pose and the lighting. Correct me if I'm wrong...but I immediately thought of this picture: http://www.padmeswardrobe.com/images/cl ... nh/025.jpg . It's just too similar

^Soo true!
But the similarity was there also in the book, so why shouldn't they copy from SW for the movie, too?

Yeah...I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been a scene where Eragon met Galbatorix and...
"Eragon...I am your father..."
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

You're right....oh well, I guess I can live with it. You guys seem really eager to rip this movie apart. Ok, Sapphira has wings like a overlarged chicken's and god only knows what Durza was riding but I guess Brom and Murtagh can make up for it...hopefully. Another thing that confused me though: since when has the Varden looked like the Haradrim?

Yeah, Murtagh does look pretty good! I'm excited because he's actually old enough, and properly grungy for the job. I like grungy Murtagh.
We haven't seen Roran yet, though. I know he's not important in this book, but he's one of my favorite characters.

I was never too annoyed with the Star Wars aspect because, hey, it's a good plotline. I'm just getting a double dose.
