Ooh, that's a good question! It might be that the figure reappeared (er, stood up, whatever) after Katara did her stuff. My question is how badly Aang was hurt when she healed him. Was he actually dead? I can't quite see her bringing him back to life, but I suppose power of love and all that...

Yeah, I have no idea what exactly happened when he was struck, I'm supposing he was badly wounded but it wasn't very clear.

I do believe Aang was just badly injured (and who else has the problem of typing out Aand instead of Aang?). It may be a while until he can fully recover from trauma though and not even Katara's special healing water can heal that.
Question.
How far back can we track the line of Avatars? I know there's Avatar Roku and then Avatar Kyoshi but are there any others? Do Avatars start out with the ability to bend one element? As Aang started out bending air --- did the other avatars start out with wataer, earth or fire?

As far as I know, only Kyoshi and Roku have been oficially revealed (and named) as past Avatars, but the previous two avatars have appeared on more than one occasion and drawn in the same way. One's a male waterbender and the previous one's a female airbender, but that's it. The Avatars are born in the same order in which they learn the elements, First Air, then Water, then Earth, then Fire, so when Aang dies the next Avatar will be born as a Waterbender, and so on. Each Avatar masters their element first and then continues in the cycle. There was an interesting episode (The Deserter??, something like that) in season 1 when Aang tried to learn firebending before earthbending and ended up burning Katara.

Neat!!! I definitely thought the beginning narration when they did "Water, Earth, Fire, Air" in that certain order was interesting. Now I know why.
On that note, who else memorized Katara's narration at the opening? [raises hand]
I need to see more Avatar episodes from Book 1. They keep re-running Book 2 episodes. What bothers me the most is that Avatar is only one about once or twice a day. Weekdays +Sunday it's only on once. Saturday it's on twice in a row. And when I look at the schedule for other shows, they're on like 4-5 times a day. It gets me frustrated that the one show that I actually tune-in to watch is out aired by shows that just don't quite.... make it.
It also frustrates me when Nickalodeon airs the Avatar episodes like Spongebob episodes or any random silly show because there's no storyline through each episode in Spongebob but there is a chronological story in Avatar and it's so out of order.

Yeah I wish it was on more frequently. Actually that's what motivated me to download the ones I hadn't seen when I started watching. I've downloaded ALL of them through Limewire and just watch them everytime I need a bending-boost

I just might end up doing that Eruadan. =/ I keep seeing episodes I've already seen and it bothers me.
Love your new banner by the way, Eruadan!

Lol. Let's hope not!!
Dan, have you ever considered doing some Avatar artwork? I know you're good with the sort of photoshop coloring and all that jazz.

I babysat again today, and the kids wanted to play Avatar again. We ended up watching several episodes.
We were watching "The Storm", which I haven't seen, and during the Agni Kai the TV gave out! I was a little disappointed, I really want to finish the episode. They recorded the first season and say they are willing to lend me the whole thing for a few weeks- next week I'll bring it home.

Very awesome!! How lucky! And I have good news as well, I was able to watch TWO WHOLE EPISODES of season 1 in ORDER on TurboNick.
Another question.
The arrowhead insignia. Is that for airbenders only? Or avatars-only?

I had assumed it was something that all airbenders had, but then yesterday, I was watching The Storm (before the TV gave out), and Aang was talking to a bunch of airbender kids at the temple, some of whom looked older than him, and he was the only one with the arrow. So I guess it's not so broad as being an airbender thing?
