I totally agree with you! all my friends who have seen it feel so sorry for him. Its his own fault he turns out to be a creep. he could have just lived a normal life if he wanted to. I'm wondering about 1 thing in the movie, when Madame Ginny 'busted' him out, did she just leave him the opera house? 
By the way, has anybody read the book? I started and then stopped, as usual, I never have time to read.  _________________

He has become a much more accomplished person. [Atleast in the movie.]
I've read Gaston Leroux's version. And I've glimpsed at Susan Kay's but I'm not a big fan of it.

Saw it for the first time yesterday and was completely blown away by it. It was amazing. Christine should have got with the Phantom though! He was her inspiration and everything and you can tell she feels for him when she's singing about him to Raoul, but then Raoul came and messed everything up! Grr... And the new explanation of how the Phantom's face got messed up is a lot more touching, it makes you feel a lot more for him. My fav song was definitely "Think Of Me", but I was up all night last night since I had "The Phantom of the Opera is here / Inside my mind" stuck in my head, lol. Quick question: somehow I missed who the lady was in the beginning, the one who was also bidding for the music box...help?

What new explaination is that? I seemed to have missed it?
Answer: The lady at the beginning whom Raoul recognized and also bid for the monkey was Madame Giry --- no not, Madame-Madame Giry. It was Meg Giry all grown up and old. But it was played by Miranda Richardson -- whom was Madame Giry.

I have, though very different then then the movie! Erik, the phantom, is worse, he kills more ppl, has a tourture chamber, I think marries Christine, and Rauol is a lovesick idiot.

That was Meg? I actually thought it was Christine, it really looked like her! And I thought that would make sense since Christine gave him her ring, so maybe she didn't marry Raoul...but no, she did.
And one more thing...why didn't the Phantom just tell people that he was in a fire or something? It sounds good... _________________

Ah the broadway -- there are several different reasons why Erik's face is like that. The reason of acid is much more realistic to a certain plotline, etc.
The fact that Phanny didn't handle the way people reacted to him was part of the scenario, he was slightly on the crazy side......

i loved the phantom of the opera...some of my all time favourite music! anyway...it was a great movie...loved the phantom!
