I'm hoping that someone else here has at least seen this movie. It's one of my all-time favorites.
It's best put this way: "Probably the most charming movie about death that's ever been made."
"In a broad sense, the film is a simple love story about how opposites attract--only, this time around, he's 19 and she's 79. Harold, played with deadpan humor by Bud Cort, is under extreme pressure from his overbearing mother, to enter the dating world. Unfortunately, the shy and morose Harold would rather spend his time attending the funerals of complete strangers. It is at one of these where he meets Maude (Ruth Gordon), who has the spunk and energy of a teenager. Maude is convinced that Harold needs to come out of his shell and enjoy life, so she brings him into hers."
Anything more would spoil it.
If you haven't seen it, but you like your romances a little morbid, a little twisted, but still sweet and absolutely hilarious, RENT IT.
