Well after much hoo-hah about "will it" "won't it" go ahead (who here seriously believed the Oscars wouldn't happen? ;)) the 80th Academy Awards are now only a day away. :D

Who else is ready for the Academy to give the wrong awards to the wrong people? And for the most "important" part of the event to be when the stars wear clothing that cost $1,000,000 and look like they cost $1? And for the stars to thank their goldfish, y-fronts and false teeth for helping them to win?

*waves hand*

For for full list of nominess go here

And fair warning: if Johnny Depp does not win "Best Actor", Sweeney Todd fails in all of its categories (all of two), Ratatouille doesn't win "Best Animated Feature" and "Best Orignal Score" .... run for the hills.... :sly:

I couldn't agree more with everything you just said! :P
I never was a big Oscar-fan since it's aired so late for Europeans... but I'm considering watching it this - for the dresses!!!

:teehee:

The channel that used to show the Oscars live lost it, and it moved to Sky (which we don't have), so usually a neighbour tapes it for us, but this year my brother is going to record it (he doesn't know it yet, but he will) and my other brother will be kicking me off the computer tomorrow night so he can watch it on the internet. I never watch it when it's on, I just like to know the results, and I'll watch it later - so I can skip past all the rubbish. ;)

I think it's funny how much money they spend on clothes that look so horrible. If you're going to spend an senseless amount of money - please let it look nice and not like a tramps worn it for 14 years.

Watch the whole thing, you losers.

All I have to say is.

XD

The Oscars are about the films and honouring the people who make them... not a fashion show... it wouldn't be so bad, but the idiots who interview all the people... they are so in "your face" and the way they chase people around.... gah... I'd like to fly down there and trip 'em up.

Well the red carpet's just them coming in----if you guys really don't like it that much, then don't watch the Red Carpet.

We all know the Oscars are more prestigious than that.

3:10 to Yuma for original score
dont care about original song(Into The West will always pwn)
Transformers for sound, it was amazing
Transformers for sound editing
Pirates or Transformers for Visual effects
dont care about animated

I agree, with Kit. Not watching the whole thing is like blasphemy. XD Although, I do get a bit bored and ignore a lot of the "Red Carpet" stuff. :P

But I also agree with JF, if Johnny fails to win -- I'll be VERRRRRRRRRY disappointed. The Oscar judges will have to endure my wrath. GRRRR.

I also think Cate needs to win BOTH actress and supporting. And Pirates has to win, obviously. And SO does 3:10 To Yuma.

And Jon Stewart is LOOOOVE. :)

I'm glad the Oscars are going to go on! I don't know what would've happened to the world had they not. :P Might've stopped turning.
I just can't believe it's already tomorrow night! *GASP*

I do hope Johnny and Cate win best actor and actress, and I also think Cate deserves to win best supporting actress too. And if Johnny doesn't win... well, at least give it to Viggo. Keep it in the LotR family. :P

And I'll admit I like watching some of the red carpet stuff. ;) I've never really been able to sit through the whole thing, though.

But no matter who wins, with Jon Stewart hosting I shall be happy!

Best Picture: Don't have a clue, as I haven't seen any of them. I'm not even going to be patriotic and say Atonement, as that's way over hyped, like the Queen... and I disliked the Queen.

Best Actor - If it really, really, really, really can't be Johnny then I want Viggo to win (for obvious reasons). JD is the only one up for an Oscar this year, who I've seen. Daniel-Day Lewis should go back to Italy and cobble. The year Viggo’s up for an Oscar and the boy wonder becomes the flavour of the month again.

Best Actress - Please god, not Julie Christie. I promise I'll never be bad ever again. Cate Blanchett should win, because she's Galadriel. 'Nuff said.

Best Supporting Actor - Don't care.

Best Supporting Actress - ^^

Best Director - Tim Burton's not there sooo......

Best Screenplay - *yawn*

Best Adapted Screenplay - *snore*

Cinematography ---

Editing ---

Art Direction - Sweeney Todd

Costume Design - Sweeney Todd or Elizabeth. I'm sure it's harder creating costumes for those era's than 1900+ Atonement.

Makeup - Sweeney Todd. I mean come on....how can something like Atonement possibly win when you have something like ST up for make-up?

Orignal Score - I like both 3:10 to Yuma and Ratatouille, but the latter has more diversity so that's what I want to win.

Original Song – Well I’m kinda guessing it will be something from Enchanted... :eyeroll:

Sound - Eh, either 3:10 to Yuma or Ratatouille.

Sound Editing - I wouldn't know good sound editing if it hit me on the head, so I'll say Ratatouille.

Visual Effects - Pirates of the Caribbean hands down.

Best Animated Feature - Ratatouille without a doubt. If that doesn't win I'm gonna shoot someone.

Best Foreign Language Film ---

Best Documentary I'll say Sicko, even though I haven't seen it, because MM makes sense to me.

Short Subjects ---

Best Short Film Animated - Nothing from Pixar, so I'm not interested.

Best Short Film Live Action ---

^ And they are the wholly prejudiced and biased views of one who has seen only 4 of the films nominated. :P

Hmm... can't really say I've noticed. I think Eastern Promises and the Daniel Day Lewis film and obviously Sweeney Todd, were all 18's (or R) and now I think about, No Country For Old Men could also have been an 18. Dunno about Michael Clayton though. I only keep tabs on the ratings of films I want to see. :P

Well.... the majority of the films in the running for Best Picture are Rated R. So that could affect the amount of viewers that actually see the film.

That's very true. And three of the Best Actors - Viggo, Johnny & DDL - are all portraying characters that are involved in violent acts - apparently DDL's is very violent which may go against him *coughyeahrightcough*, which I think is pretty unusual.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Juno won because it seems so odd out of the group of nominees.
