^hehe, someone hath already spread the AMAZING news!!! *cheers* when I first saw that this morning a huge smile lit up my face! it is really amazing! And, at this point, I don't care who picked up Narnia with Walden, I'm thrilled no matter what. And really I think this'll work better. Much better. I'm really optimistic about the whole thing. I'm VERY happy they'll start filming at the end of this summer so the release date won't be pushed back much, I actually think that having it release during the holidays like LWW did will help it. So yeah, all the way around I'm pleased with this. I think Fox will do a good job with Walden. Though it will be very strange not to see the Disney logo on all the Narnia stuff...
(2010 is shaping up to be a good year, me thinks. I graduate, we FINALLY learn all the mysteries to LOST (though, granted that'll be more bittersweet), AND VotDT! )

WHOOOO! Exciting! And released next year, that's a bit better than I was hoping!
But I really really really really really really really (x1000) hope they do a better job on VoDT than they did on Eragon. Please.

For a minute I was sort of confused about it being released next year, since holiday 2010 is almost two years from now, but then I remembered that it's 2009 now, so 2010 is 'next year'.
Anyway, yes, I'm a little worried about the Eragon precedent. I'm not sure if I agree with what they said in the article about how they want to 'get back to the magical aspects present in the first "Narnia" pic but mostly absent from "Prince Caspian."' I mean, okay, but I didn't think PC was bad. It was just different. VotDT is different as well, and they'd better make that distinction.

This is 09. Next year is 10. Thus, holiday 2010 = next year.
I think they mean by "magic" the actual Narnia-ish of Narnia. PC dealt a lot with humans, and not much with the Narnian creatures besides saying, "Oh, they've been oppressed and they're fighting." Whereas VoDT has all the magical islands, dragons, etc.

I think it'll also be more "magical" in the sense that we're at least partly getting to see it through new eyes again. LWW had a sense of wonder to it because it was completely new and we were following characters who had never seen anything like Narnia. PC, for the most part, deals with the familiar. Sure, you have the new Telmarines, but we've basically already seen the stuff like centaurs and fauns and talking beasts and Aslan, and so have essentially all of the characters.
VotDT goes beyond the boundaries of Narnia, into territory that is unfamiliar even to the native Narnians, which just gives it a bit of a fresher feel. And, as Nurr said, it deals with some of the more fantastical elements like dragons and enchanted gold and new mystical creatures.
The magic of Narnia is one of the greatest draws for me, so yeah, I'm a bit excited.

Hm? They have a realease date set already? Before a cast and crew are aquired? Odd way to go about things.
I hope it will come out then... and not get pushed back like PC or anything. I hate waiting.

Ah.
They have not cast it yet? Hmm, that is very odd that a release date has been given yet. They may really want a certain actor but they have to wait until his schedule is free, so.... maybe the release date hasn't been confirmed and is just a rumour?

Well, I don't think they have. But, PD would be the one who knows. Maybe. I tend to distrust these kind of things. And even if it is legit, they often change their dates. *shrugs* One can pressume it'll be around then, though. Hopefully.
