Ok, who's as excited as me about this film? :bounce: :boing:

*crickets chirp*

Sooo... maybe I am a *little* bit hyped about this... possibly on a Sweeney Todd level... but we all know I wasn't *that* obsessed with ST don't we?

I seriously cannot WAIT to see this... and Daniel Craig *coughsnickercough* ... and the US gets it after the UK... muahuahuahua.... sorry guys, I'm still sore I had to wait 3 months for Ratatouille AND 1 month for ST (full of Brits, filmed in Britain yet we have to wait).... so if you guys have to wait 15 days... that makes me happy. :P

The new trailer was released last night and it looks so awesome. I just worry about the female character, I mean my Mr. Bond is scarred enough, I just get the feeling he's going to be even worse off after all this. :P Plus, I really loved Vesper, so it's going to be hard trying not to compare the new female to the old and somewhat deceased. XD

And I won't have the gorgeous Mads Mikkelsen to look at, so I suppose *sigh* I'll have to make do with Daniel Craig. Such a hardship that wil be.

Alright, I can't work up the same excitement as you.. (I mean who on Earth can compete with a fangirlishly obsessed Gimli! :P) but since I remember spending quite a lot of time in the old Bond thread - and for never having been a Bond fan nor a particular Craig fan, I can't for the life of me recall why I posted so much!!
Anyway, lead me to the trailer and I'll see what it can do for me! :teehee:

*nudgenudge* You know you loved Casino Royale really. I'd never been a Bond fan either and I'd never seen Daniel Craig, but it was a brilliant film and he was just awesome... I think you thought the same as me. :P Which is why you posted so much. XD

YES! Teh shower scene was just... AWWWWW.. with a capital A! You need to watch it again precious. I need to watch it again in fact. I've been wanting to watch it all year, but I was saving it for nearer the time of this film's release. :teehee:

Here's the trailer on YouTube. It's a bit darker and the quality isn't as good, but it will do for now. :-)

I'd just like to note that at the moment, I'm listening to all of the James Bond movie title songs. :teehee:

Anyway, while I wasn't thrilled with how they did Casino Royale and some of the changes from my familiar Bond, I did thing Daniel Craig did a good job. And though this is like a sequel (how weird is that?) I think it looks pretty good. I'm excited. :D Now, to get money so I can actually see it in theaters....

And I tried to resurrect the Bond fan club a while ago, but that died. Maybe this will pull it back.

I think you need to look at Casino Royale and this film as a completely different take on James Bond. Or moreover "the James Bond Mr. Fleming actually wrote about". ;)

I can understand the appeal of the earlier films, with their good humour and rathar ah-hah! puns, but these Bond films are so different really, they may as well be about someone else. I've never been a fan of the earlier films, so to have someone who gets whacked in the face... and OMG... actually bleeds and looks battered, is wahay, this guy is actually real. :-o XD

I'm glad Daniel Craig gets the respect her deserves, because he put up with so much flak before people actually saw him. So I'm glad, old and new Bond fans can appreciate that. :-)

Alright, I watched the trailer and to me it looks very much like a regular action movie... perhaps even leaning more towards the traditional Bond side tha Casino Royale - not that all this is a bad thing. I don't even think I saw the trailer to CR before going to the movies.
Anyway... the trailer didn't decide the matter for me, so I'll wait and read your reviews!! :P
Oh by the way, I looove Judi Dench!! How come she looks younger and younger!!

Well James Bond is an action film. ;) I mean, Casino Royale had a lot of action scenes and a few car chases. But at least Bond doesn't use stupid gadgets - just a fast car and a few guns. :teehee:

I won't be seeing it for a long time yet, it doesn't come out until Hallooween and there is no way I'm going to watch it on openig night. :p

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I saw this two nights ago and I really loved it.

It was a bit like The Dark Knight in some ways, because like with Batman Begins, Casino Royale was more about letting the viewer know exactly who and what the main character is, so with QOS, there was much less back story about James Bond or I suppose less indication of how exactly everything works within the organization, because we all know that pretty much by now.

It was a lot more action packed as well, sometimes it was a little bit much, as some shots didn't last for more than 3 seconds so it could be a bit overwhelming. But the action shots were really exciting, and once again, how nice to see Daniel Craig actually looking rough and dirty when he's been in a fight for 10 minutes. ;)

The women. Well one of them appeared for only a short time and she was pretty annoying. She ended up dying anyway, in a way similar to the woman in Goldfinger. Her seduction was really only there so M could moan at James for once again attracting someone and then her dying because she is associated with him.

The second woman was "damaged" like him so it made sense her character being in the film. As he was obviously still not happy that a) Vesper died and b) he believed she was helping the other side and lied to him, it would have been stupid if he had had a serious fling with anyone, so I was pleased that they were just working together, and they were both intent on revenge which made them perfect partners.

The villain. OMG, so sexy. He was only a small fella, but his French accent and his cool character made me just melt..... I love the new James Bond bad guys.... :swoon: ... although they take my mind away from Daniel Craig.... :teehee:

I was a bit confused in parts as some characters appeared that were in Casino Royale and I haven't seen that for a while. The plot was a little but confusing but I rarely take in plots when I'm in the cinema, so it was nothing unusual.

I love how we keep seeing more of M's home life as well. :P

And the ending was actually an unusual one for such a film I thought, but I really liked it. I also loved the way James dealt with what happened to Vesper, as the person who he "dealt" with totally deserved it, and must have looked like hell when James Bond was through. ;)

The song was reaaaaaally bad though.

So I watched it last night...It was really wicked. Some of the things JF said I agree with so I'll just add my own opinions.

I think that's one giant difference between Craig and Brosnan where while with Pierce Brosnan, all the girls were flinging themselves to his arms. Craig only seduced the first girl just to get what he wanted. And only kissed the second girl, Camille (I think), and didn't go further. I think it would undermined Vesper's death severely if he did that.

And yes! I love that villain. He was just amazing. Even though he made odd funny noises when he was fighting Bond.

Oh, JF, did you notice the contrast between this one and Casino Royale. Like, in the first one, Bond was trying to save a girl from drowning. And in this one, he saved a girl from burning to death (or suffocating from the smoke but still). The whole fire and water thing.

I quite liked this one. We went to see it last night. Hm, where to start? I do agree with JF on most of it.

The car. Hooray! They didn't mutilate two dozen cars in this movie! :P Okay, okay. A bit of an overstatement. But at least they only mussed up the one at the very beginning and then left the rest alone.

Agreed, sometimes the action was a bit much. Big screens plus quick, close shots make my head spin at times. It will be better when I watch it on my small tv and such.

The relationship with Bond and Camille was great. It's so nice and refreshing to not have him have a fling with every female he sets eyes on. That was one of the things I disliked about the later movies. (Oh, and on that. They really only went to the "gadget" phase with Brosnan. The older ones were Bond using his resources, such as an umbrella or whatever was at hand.) I loved the communications areas in MI6! The table you could pull things on, the big screen with the calls and photos....that is cool. I liked the villain. My personal favorite is still Alec (come on, Sean Bean) but Greene is up there. He was pretty awesome.

The music. Theme song? Had they changed just a few notes of it to make it less...jarring, it could have been decent. As it was, it was kind of painful. But, the rest of the soundtrack was good. Did anyone else get excited when you could hear the theme right after the car chase at the beginning? Yay!

Omg! *fangirl squeal* I really enjoyed this movie, not to say that I don't love all the Bond movies. I'm a fanatic really. The car chase at the beginning was brilliant - so fantastically filmed. I also rather enjoyed the opera scene, it was just so funny in one of those weird ways - not to mention Daniel Craig in a suit (gotta love that). As for the villain he was pretty great. I got a big kick out of him and James' fight at the end with all his little vocalizations.

I just got home from watching the movie. I liked it but I think Casino Royale was better. There was a bit too much action but the car chase was awesome.
