Yep, heard about that this morning.
Just hope they have a good story to it, and they bring back Barbosaa and Gibbs.
They can drop everyone else.

This is just about the freakiest thing ever, but I was JUST thinking about this! I was just wondering “hey, I wonder if Disney is gonna go through with PotC 4 afterall”. Weird. but I am psyched now! I hope if Will and Liz don’t come back that at least Barbossa and the original Pearl crew (Pintel, Ragetti ect) will be in it with Jack… or else it will just be no fun at all. They need to have someone more than him for sure. It'll still probably never measure up to the trilogy, but that's ok. for right now I’ll be happy with this news! Does this deserve a triple “w00t” or what?
Yeah, I totally agree, JF, I really, really hope that thye have a good plotline planned. and T&T HAVE to be the ones writing it!!!

Triple "woot" indeed!
Nah, I don't think Will and Elizabeth need to be in it now either. And last I heard neither on of them were interested in doing another one of the films.
I am sure the rest of the crew will be there!
More Jack and Barbossa sounds great to me!

I am assuming they are going to do something with the fountain of youth?!?!
I am uber excited yet a bit nervous... how much more plot do they have to work with? The third was a pretty epic movie

Mother of pearls, this is good tidings indeed! (Even if I did hear it a bit earlier, and have already had heard it and had my squee fest. ) I have to agree with the general consensus... I believe Will and Liz's part is over, finished. However, I wouldn't mind so very much if they came back for a small minor part of the movie.
Barbossa, however, is a must.
Can't wait!

It may and it may not. But now really... does a pirate ever run out of adventures? The plots could go on and on.

I actually don't care if the same writers are on board or not. I think there are majot writing faults with POTC, and they have a lot to answer for in AWE. I'm quite happy if they get better writers for the next film.

Sure, their adventures could go on and on, but won't it get repetitive? Pillaging and plundering...
we had Davy Jones, we had the Cursed Treasure, we had the Epic Battle of the Brethren Court, and we Calypso... What other major Pirate things are there? Black Beard? Dread Pirate Roberts <--- oops already a movie =)

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Are you serious? This is nuts!
I'm not sure what to think. Ha ha ha! I mean I loved the first three to death. And I thought three was a great number to end on. But I guess we'll see what happens. Johnny's in it as Jack, thus bound to be awesome.
As for plot, who knows, you know? I'd hope it'd have something to do with the Fountain Of Youth...I mean that's kind of where they left off, you know?
And being the Sparrabether that I am, I'd love to see Elizabeth back. Just for that whole thing...but isn't that whole "adultrey" thing not what Disney stands for?
Anyway, this is all kinds of exciting. It'll be interesting to see how this thing unfolds in the coming months/years. YAY FOR PIRATES! They rule teh Earth!

What plot flaws?
As for what other piratey things are there.. well, let's see...
Jack Sparrow could fall in love. That would be interesting. (They'd have to find someone VERY worthy and likeable though. Good luck with that...)
There could be something reminiscent of the story of Mary Read and Anne Bonny.
Atlantis???
Fountain of Youth.
Mermaids.
You get a writer or two for a Pirates of the Caribbean movie and believe me they'll come up with something fun.

There, I'm going to have to disagree with you. There are many things that could have been done better in AWE, but relatively few of them had anything to do with the writers. Being the avid spoiler-hunter that I am (was), I read the script to AWE well before the movie came out, and it was brilliant. There was a coherent story line, the Davy/Calypso stuff actually made sense with the rest of the story, etc. Had the final product been the story that Ted and Terry wrote, it would have been amazing.
The main problem comes in at the editing process. Editors, who tend to care more about getting in your action and key romance scenes within a set amount of time (ideally not more than 2 hours or so), would rather cut backstory and 'minor' scenes than have the audience potentialy lose interest before the end, so a lot of what made the script great ended up on the cutting room floor. Ted and Terry actually expressed their displeasure with that, since without all those backstories and 'minor' scenes, the action and key romance scenes aren't nearly as powerful. The fault lies (mostly) with the editors, not the writers.
I barely support this decision at all to begin with, and I certainly won't if it isn't handled by the dynamic duo. They told us that they would never write another PotC unless they had a story worth telling, so I'm trusting that they held true to that statement. But even so, I really feel that the story was done after AWE. Anything extra is just going to seem like precisely that - extra.
