What are your favorite action movies? How much suspense is too much? What makes the best adventures? I know that these are separate genres, but they all seem very similar to me... so let's discuss! |

1. Iron man series. 2. Thor. 3. Marvel The avengers. 4. Captain America. 5. X-Men series. I love all that have been passed upon comics. |

The A-Team was fab. And Resident Evil I think would count as well, even though they're horror too. I think the right amount of suspense is when you're jumping slightly in your chair cos you want to know what'll happen next. Too little or too much just gets annoying. |

The X-men movies were pretty awesome, I loved Magneto and Mystique. More in the adventure-genre, I'm also a big fan of the first National Treasure movie. It was suprisingly funny and easy to watch, considering the riddles they come across ![]() |

^ Yes, the first National Treasure was great! I like that kind of movies. I liked the Da Vinci code too! |

^ Yes, the Da Vinci Code wasn't bad either. I though the book was better, but the movie was still enjoyable and it had the same action/adventure/riddle feeling as the book. I also loved "King Arthur" and "Robin Hood", which I think can be considered as historical action movies. |

My favorite action movie of all time is probably The Matrix. (The first one is the best, but the other two are ok as well.) I think that I like the series so much because it's not all focused on the action (although it has plenty of that) - it also raises deep philosophical ideas and makes them interesting for a wide audience, which is sometimes very hard to do. I also saw Gladiator recently - it wasn't my favorite movie and it was a little too gory for me at times. I did think that the storytelling was excellent and I loved how vivid it was and how you felt like you were really there in the action. Other movies... I agree with all of you who like National Treasure and Da Vinci Code - those are some of my favorites as well. JF, I also saw Skyfall and loved it (but it's the first James Bond movie I've seen, so I don't have anything to compare it to). And Indiana Jones is classic, but I never really got into those movies for some reason. --- New question: If you've seen 300, what did you think of it? That's an action movie that I think goes overboard... I liked the context of 300 (e.g. the political background) more than anything else. I don't really care for the slow-motion cartoon-character-like fight sequences they do in that movie - it seems less real that way. |

I know it's cheesy, but one of my favorite action (okay romcom action) movies is Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I just love Angelina Jolie's and Brad Pitt's chemistry in that! I saw Skyfall when it came out. It was pretty good, but I remember enjoying Casino Royale a lot more. Of the Dark Knight trilogy, my favorite is definitely The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger's Joker really gripped me. Gladiator is a great one, very sweeping. I really enjoyed V for Vendetta. I also liked the two Sherlock Holmes films with Robert Downey, Jr. (that man, yum), although I can't recall which one I preferred. Hanna was interesting. The soundtrack, locations, and Cate Blanchett were most memorable for me, but I think it's worth a watch. |

I have no idea how many times I've seen it. At least once a year since I was 6-7 and way more as an adult. Still not sure if I want to see it in 3D or not. Scared the magic will have disappeared. |
