Okay. (I didn't see any other threads on this, so sorry if there were)
So, I just got back from seeing this movie this afternoon, and I have to say, I really did enjoy it. I know it had kinda bad reviews and all (wait-what am I saying?! Do I listen to critics?! BAH!!) ANYWAYS. I thought it was pretty good. I mean, if you can ignore Matt Damon putting on a faux British accent, then it's all good. Not to diss Matt, because I think he's great....but stick with being an American. Heath Ledger was AMAZING though! And it was really FUNNY! One of my favourite lines was: "It's not magic, it's just shiny!" :) SO, I'm just wondering if any of you have seen it and whether or not they enjoyed it. Post away!

P.S. And if you didn't enjoy it, please don't hate me for liking it!

I really want to see this movie, it looks really really good. But what is it about?

Yeah, I thought this movie looked good also. I hope to see it soon. As for what it's about...

Brothers Jake and Will Grimm, renowned collectors of folklore, have made a career out of traveling from village to village pretending to rid them of "enchanted" creatures. Their bluff is called, however, when they are forced by Napoleon's French government to investigate a haunted forest where girls have been disappearing mysteriously. What they discover leads to a series of adventures involving an actual evil (and immortal) sorceress that mirrors that of mythology and the fables that the Brothers Grimm would eventually become famous for.

Hope that helped you out ;)

I saw it the day before yesterday. It was....um....how do I get this across? It did a good job with what it had. There was no bad acting, bad special effects, or major holes in the plotline. I did like how they incorporated lots of fairy tales in. I liked Heath Ledger's character. However....

I don't think the movie knew what it was! It was part comedy, part action adventure, part satire, part horror, and part fantasy, but none of the parts were dominant enough for it to really have a consistent theme. The ending was very inconclusive and left a lot to be desired (a certain girl should DEFINITELY have ended up with a certain guy, but instead skipped off into the wild blue yonder). The lighting was...very unnatural, either overly dull or blazingly bright. A lot of the jokes fell kind of flat when I suspect there were a bunch of supposed-to-be-funnies no one in the audience really understood. It was also...well, I'm very intolerant of any horror aspects, and I do feel sorry for any parents who decided it was a lovely fairy tale movie to take the kids to see.

So, well, I guess my conclusion was that a bunch of good elements don't necessarily make a good product when mixed together. I can see how it might appeal to some people, but I came out feeling a little bewildered and disappointed.

OH! And the previews REALLY freaked me out! There was one for something called "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" that seriously took a demented mind to even CONSIDER filming, and some other one set in the desert with a lot of chain link fences and dogs barking and stuff *shudder* They NEED to start monitoring trailers a little more closely.

Ok, rant over. You can open your eyes now.

Then again, one more thing. The whole Gingerbread Man part - it was like "Here comes The Blob! With really computerized-looking goggly eyes!"

AH yes. I have to agree with you on most, if not all of those things you pointed out. Especially the ending...kinda of just, well...there. But it happens, I've seen worse. And like I said before, I am a fan of Matt Damon, but Heath Ledger just seemed to pull out a better performance.

Ha ha ha ha!!! I LOVED those backpacks!!! It was just so random! I thought it was great!!!! Go cow backpacks!!!

Oh, and about the ginger bread man thing....so very confused. I think they just put it in there to have it in there, and was kind of a quick decision, and not thouroughly thought out. So yeah....didn't quite get that part.
