What movies would you like to see re-made, and what movies would you like to see made for the first time?
I'd like to see...
Meet John Doe (re-made)
That Hideous Strength (one of CS Lewis' space trillogy)
The Hobbit (of course!)
Jane Eyre (there needs to be a nice, long movie about this!)
oh, I'll have to add to this later sometime. But there are so many movies that could be made!

I just wrote a 3000 word essay on how too many films are being remade.
I believe in my theroy as well. There arent enough good original films out there nowa days, you look at what films there are: Narnia (previously a film i believe), king kong and pride and prededece.
I want more original and new films. I'm sick of remakes.
would love to see the hobbit
Edit: sorry typo, suposed to say 3000 word essay not 300

300 word essay? my essay intro paragraphs are usually around 400...
I would like to see the movie "Troy" remade, with less deviation from the Iliad and more substance than style. I'd love to see a good silver screen adaption of Homer's "The Odyssey" preferably starring Sean Bean as Odysseus.

I'd like to see the book The Great and Terrible Quest turned into a movie. With the right director and cast, it would be brilliant!

I agree. I'm also getting really sick of sequels and prequels.

Remade:
The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe (at least take some more time with the special effects and then release it again)
The Neverending Story (I love the '80s versions, but this story deserves to get its own masterpiece of a film like LotR, the recent remake from 2001 was a disgrace!)
Mio My Mio/Mio In The Land Of Faraway (One of my favorite books as a child, as much as I love this movie since I grew up on it, it could be soo much better and deserves to be better. Not even Christopher Lee saves the movie)
Made:
Tordyveln Flyger I Skymningen/The Dorbeetle Flies In The Twilight (book by Maria Gripe. Very mystical and magical)
The Shadow Chronicles: (Skuggan Över Stenbänken/The Shadow Over The Stone Bench, ...Och De Vita Skuggorna I Skogen/...And The White Shadows Of The Forest, Skuggornas Barn/Children Of The Shadows, Skugg-Gömman/The Shadow-Hider) (Books by Maria Gripe. Enchanting, magical and mystical)
The Hobbit (well duh! lol. it has to be PJ/Wingnut/Weta that makes it though)
The Silmarillion (same reason as above)

I have to agree with Ivy - Space Trilogy and Jane Eyre would be good! I'm not sure about Artemis Fowl - I can see that being stuffed up badly. They'd have to get Butler's accent right... or else it'd be... bleh...
I think parts of the Sil would work well as a film, too. Hobbit goes without saying.
Just like to point out that there is slight overlap with thread on "Books you want to see made into film" thread here but that one does only talk about books SO... *leaves both threads open*

I don't think the Silmarillion could be made into a film, it's just too much. They barely managed to make lotr in under 10 hours.

And they have to get the perfect Artemis Fowl, but it would be a good movie to see if it ever gets made.

I'd love to se The Magicians Nephew made into a film, I know it is only about the history of Narnia, but it has always been one ov my fave books. I'd also like the Alex Rider series to be made into films.

I'd like to see "Ella Enchanted" remade *coughs and chokes at thought of current movie version* And actually a remake of "The Ten Commandments" would be nice, too. Can't think of anything else at the moment.

I'd really like to see some (if not all) of Tamora Pierce's books made into movies
The Truth-Teller's Tale would make a good movie too, I think. So would Castaways of the Flying Dutchman
I can't think of any remakes... besides maybe Ella Enchanted. I didn't thaink it was really that bad of a movie, but I would like to see one that sticks closer to the book.

I love the "tomorrow when the war began'' books by John Marsden and I'm curios to see how they would be made but also I think I'd be totaly horrified if they made them because I've been such a huge fan of them since i was so young that I feel very protective of them.
I change my mind, NO don't destroy good literature with modern ideas and movie propaganda!!!
I hate it when they advertise or try to start trends with movies
(Maetharanel, the comment about the cats in your sig made me choke on my strawberries & cream, so funny)
