I refuse to see the movie as I love the book to death. You have to understand that I hate not seeing it because I love Ron Howard, Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen and Paul Bettany. But in no way, shape, or form do I think that they embody the beloved characters of that book. For one, Paul Bettany as an albino? I mean, come on. Sure, he's English, but that doesn't mean his pale colour justifies him as an albino. Personally, I think they just got them for namesake...hugely popular book I guess needs hugely popular names and budgets. But I won't get into why I'm so angry over this. I hope that those who do see it, enjoy it. But I advise you all to read the book and it's prequel "Angels And Demons" before you see the movie.

I've read the book plus Angels and Demons - absolutely LOVED both of them. I seriously cannot WAIT for this movie to come out. It might not do the book justice (I guess we'll have to wait and see) but I am super-excited nonetheless. I'm forcing my whole family to see it (since they haven't and won't have time to read the book) because I want them all to be enlightened!

Has anyone seen the Promo posters for it yet?
I had my reservations about Paul Bettany as well. But after seeing the trailers and the Silas character poster. He has me convinced.

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not a huge fan of either Hanks or Howard. But...I think with a book like this Ron Howard can't mess it up. He'll need to get Interpol to get him a new identity if he does. Cause millions of rabid Dan Brown fans will try to hunt him down and hurt him.

I've read the book and to be honest I wasn't that keen on it, so I'm hoping that the film will be at least as good as (if not better!) than the book, especially with the awesome cast.

Don't get me wrong I think the book was alright, but just slightly average and mundane in parts.

I know it is contrary to consensus, but I am not cliche, and I say that generally movies are better than books because they are meant to be more dramatic and suspenseful. That's the truth. As for "The DaVinci Code", I hope it is exclaimed early in the film that it is fiction, something millions of people obviously didn't understand with the book.

The book is written as fiction, but we all know it's based on years and years of research of ancient theories by the author. Dan Brown himself has said that when he first started out researching for the book he was very sceptical and didn't even believe the slightest that it might possibly be a little true, but as he got more and more into it, saw 'proof' after 'proof' he became (and I quote) "a believer". As I've said in the book discussion thread; Dan Brown only confirmed with this book things I have believed for years and years.

So yes, the book is written as a fiction book, but there are lots of facts and theories behind it.

Let's try and NOT start a flaming debate, however, "The DaVinci Code" is listed as historical FICTION. The historical part being the many actual FACTS Dan Brown used while writing his story.

Wow that's a bit of a strong view there.
What was hateful about it?
