I realize it's a little early to be putting this topic up, but there is a new one to be released in '07! Not the Collin Pharrell one. It's suppose to star Leonardo Dicaprio. I hope he'll do a good job in this movie. |

Um.. isn't that a little weird to make another movie on this so soon? lol Anyways, I can't find any info on this movie on IMDb so I guess it's not been officially announced yet |

This other Alexander movie has been in the works for a while now. One by Oliver Stone starring Colin Farrell and Baz Luhrmann starring Leonardo DiCaprio. As far as I remember the Baz version was put on hold. Seems now he's moving on with it. I've still not been brave enough to watch Alexander yet, despite being a fan of Colin and Angelina's. I'd heard really, really bad things about it. ![]() |

They were both shceduled to be made at the same time. For whatever reason Baz Luhrmann's version was put on hold and Oliver Stone made is with Colin Farrell. |

I've never seen the Collin Pharrel one, but I heard it really sucked by a lot of people. If the one with Leo's is good, I wished it was put on earlier then. Psst! They were both in the works at the same time, I know, but isn't that strange? |

DiCaprio... as Alexander? *Twitch* I'm sorry but I cannot see him playing this role. Truthfully, I don't know if anyone could pull it off, but DiCaprio playing a brilliant leader who conquered most of the known world? A man who thought of himself as the son of god? I don't think so. This is from another forum, on a different topic, but it explains things perfectly. "I remember about 20 years ago being on a london bus. As usual, for me when I've nothing better to do on public transport, I was studying the faces of my fellow passengers to see whether any bore a passing resemblance to a historical figure (of any period). there was one blond young man with hair that stood and fell rather as Alexander the Great's does in statues. As I looked at the lad, who could physically have passed I suppose as Alexander - it dawned on me that I would never see in the modern world anyone who would carry themselves, or have the look in the eye, that Alexander must have had. A man who considered himself the son of God, whose confidence could win him battles against staggering odds, who could defy convention in many ways, must have been overwhelming - his charisma; the (probably to us extreme) arrogance of his manner and air; his assumption of superiority must be something gone from this world. people speak of the almost tangible majesty that surrounds HM The Queen today (I mean in personality terms) that affects them when they meet her. That must have been true in spades of Alexander... or Caesar, or Cleopatra, or Augustus..." |

Yeah, but that what's acting's all about, isn't it? Aquiring that air. You have a point about Leo, though. I can't see him with long, shaggy hair and heavy armor. I haven't watched Collin Farrell one, either. It sounds like they took a heroic story and kind of butchered it. This one should be better, or else we'll have to storm Hollywood... |

The thing is, I've never seen anyone who actually pulled it off... well except the guy who played Caesar in Rome (the HBO series). He came the closest, just to be oozing confidence. We really don't have to worry about shaggy Leo anytime soon, though... "Baz Luhrmann had been planning to make a very different film about Alexander, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, but the release of Stone's film eventually persuaded him to abandon the project" -Wikipedia |
