I just read "The Merlin Conspiracy". Light, easy reading. It was a bit confusing at times whatwith all the different worlds (but that's the author for you.) It wasn't boring, moved at a reasonable pace, and had some interesting ideas. Reminded me very strongly in terms of style of "Conrad's Fate" - but that was either because they are both in the first person, or because they both have yellow covers...

The Grand Tour by Patricia C. Wrede, it's the sequel to Sorcery and Cecelia.

I'm trying to read "The Far Pavillions" and I've started trying to make my brother read "Obernewtyn". This turns out to entail reading it to him...

I'm hoping to get my hands on "Darksong" which is the sequel to "Darkfall" soon, also...

Not reading anything right now, but the last books I read were The Minister's Daughter (excellent but strange) and The Secret of Shabaz (entertaining but so, so predictable)

Um, let's see, I read Saving Francesca and Looking for Alibrandi, both very good, and Rebel Angels (so awesome!) and a silly book called The Squire's Tale, and now I'm reading something called "I, Coriander" :)

Arwen, I love Saving Francesca! :) I like it better than Looking for Alibrandi (but then I'm anti-that because I think it's highly inappropriate for my 13 yr old brother to be forced to to not only read it, but study it at school...)

I've just finished "Out of the Silent Planet" by C.S. Lewis. :) I really liked it - it made so much more sense than Perelandra, which I read a couple of years ago. Now I want to reread that, in the hope that it'll make more sense now.

Hmmeth, haven't started anything new recently, but I finished "I, Coriander" (pretty good) and read all of a sillyish book called Stargirl in one sitting.

Herenya, you know, when I read on the back flap of Looking for Alibrandi that it was required reading for Australian students, I immediately thought of you! I agree, it's not entirely appropriate for younger readers, but maybe because I wasn't required to read it, I still enjoyed it. I really would like to see the movie version, but no American movie rentals carry it :(

I'm reading "Most Secret" by Neville Shute. It's set 1941, and I haven't grasped the significance of the main character to the story except that he's in the navy, and narrating the story. Other characters so far - a half French, half British guy, a guy who likes rabbits and is grieving over his dead dog, and another man who's wife/childhood friend was killed in the bombing. And a educated, sheltered girl who is now, of all things, driving trucks. But it's interesting...

Arwen, I've never been forced to read Alibrandi myself - I also read it by choice, and because I'd enjoyed Saving Francesca. I haven't seen the movie version yet, but I've heard it's good. Shame you can't find it!
