Currently reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safran Foer. It's amazing so far. I'm also reading Beowulf.

Well, I don't generally have issues with indecisiveness, but I'm currently reading...

Left Behind by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins (Left Behind series #1)

Taliesin by Stephen R. Lawhead (Pendragon Cycle #1)

The Great Hunt (Wheel of Time #2)

How do you like it and what's it about? I've been looking at it so many times in the bookstore just because of the awesome title. :-)

I'm reading Evil (Ondskan) by Jan Guillou - ughh, there are some pretty gross scenes...

Bad, oooh, bad Melda. Don't read that series... poor Jenkins has plot issues. Read The Personifid Project by RE Bartlett if you want good Christian sci-fi. Jenkins is a waste of time, I promise.

(And Lawhead rocks my socks OFF. To the moon.)

Currently reading: War and Peace - Tolstoy.

actually I think the series is quite good. I mean, Lahaye has devoted nearly his entire life to studying Revelation.

but if you want a really good edge-of-your-seat series, read Joel C. Rosenberg's books, "The Last Jihad", "The Last Days", "The Ezekiel Option", "The Copper Scroll", and "Dead Heat." I promise you, they will frighten you because a lot of what he's written came true AFTER he wrote the books. But they're very good books, and I think they're more accurate than Left Behind because some of the stuff Rosenberg's written has already come true *i.e. the 9\11 attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon, Saddam taken out of Iraq, etc...*

I'm sort of reading Kingdome Come, but it's been so long since I read the other books, I've forgotten all the people and stuff that happened.......

also re-reading Little House in the Big Woods, the first book by Laura Ingalls wilder. I've never read all the books so I decided to try to read them all. :D

Well, I'll agree with you that the series could be written better - I'm very picky about my dialogue especially, and his could be more realistic - but I picked up the first three for a dollar each from our nearest used bookstore, and they're definitely tolerable.

Darn. Checked the library website and they don't seem to have that one. :disgust: But YES, I love The Pendragon Cycle so far. Atlantis and Arthurian mythology are amazing no matter which way you look at it.

However, I shall put The Last Jihad on hold and see if I like it. Thanks, Petra :)

He does indeed. The Paradise War is his best. The Pendragon Cycle tends to drag on in spots, but the first two at least are very engaging. Lawhead is most definitely in his element when writing about the Celts (which is what the Paradise War is about. Don't be fooled by the modern beginning; it gets really good.)

I'm currently reading Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman. I dunno, I suppose it might be good if it was your kind of book, but I don't really care for it. His humor is kinda lame, and while in the beginning it looked to be nice and dark, it seems to be turning more into a comedy. And the main character...basically falls flat on his face in a puddle of fail. (Well, maybe I'm being harsh, but I dislike the type.) I'll probably finish it...eventually.

I'm currently reading The Scarlet Pimpernel, by Baroness Orczy. I was reading in the Introduction about how many names she had, it was pretty interesting.

Oh, I'd definitely recommend it. It's partly about 9/11, because the main character's dad died in the collapse of the Twin Towers. It's told from the point of view of this nine-year-old kid named Oskar who has this absolutely crazy imagination. The way the author pulls together Oskar's point of view with several other people's points of view is awesome. It's sort of all over the place plot-wise, but I couldn't put it down.

I'm currently reading Beowulf and In the Woods by Tana French.

I borrowed The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley at the library a few days ago. Still haven't started on it as I've been so busy. It's almost 900 pages and hardback so it's super-heavy.

Hey, I read that. It IS super-heavy. I think I quit somewhere near the end because of the sheer weird-ness of it all. Some of those pairings left me going whaaaa....?
