What about Epica? An extremely good band from the Netherlands, it is. It's gothic, mostly, and I'm sure the Nightwish-lovers will love this band. Also, pretty famous in Europe at the moment, is Within Temptation. In my opinion Epica is still a lot better than Within Temptation, though. Within Temptation is also a gothic band.

Gwenneth wrote: hmm...i haven't heard of any of these guys. Bethany Dillon is a Christian singer who started recorded her first big album at age 15. she's probably known fairly well to people who listen to Christian music, but i thought i'd post her here anyway. she's an awesome singer!! her new CD is coming out really soon. click on the link to look at some photos, listen to samples of her music, or read her journal entries. http://www.bethanydillon.com/
I love Bethany Dillon so much! She's definately one of my favs.
Foolish Things is a great band out of Denver! I am good friends with the guitarist's wife. Isaac Jorgensen is an amazing songwriter. www.foolishthings.com
Isaac's younger brother is also in a band, which is really good, considering that they're pretty young. www.allatonceband.com
Newcomers Home is another Colorado band, but they're from Boulder... the lead singer actually grew up in my city. They're sort of folk/rockish/celtic/bluegrass. www.newcomershome.com
Trace Bundy is friends with Newcomers Home, and if you like acoustic guitar, you will like him. He doesn't sing, but he does some truely amazing things on the guitar. www.tracebudy.com or www.acousticninja.com
yay for Colorado talent!

A few bands that some of you may or may not know.
Sinergy - Another female fronted Metal band. Tarot - Marco from Nightwish's other band Danzig - Awesome. 'Nuff said L7 - All girl punk/rock. Hammerfall Paradise Lost - Great British Metal band with a gothic/doom edge Fozzy Fireball Ministry DragonForce - Awesome British power metal. Enslaved - Viking metal
That's all I can think of off the top of my head at 4am
