you know.....my attitude towards the change has changed.....i wasn't so sure about it but i have to admit i really like eva and amaranth (how ever it's spelled) and the sound of nightwish hasn't changed....just the voice of the singer.....now, don't get me wrong....tarja was great and i still kinda miss her voice but....maybe it's not as bad as i thought

The sound hasn't changed that drastically at all. The guys can't win, they hire someone with Operatic training, it's a Tarja-like. They hired Anette, and it's too 'different'.
I'm a firm supporter of Nightwish and Anette. They wouldn't have chosen Anette if they didn't think she could do the job.
She has a fantastic voice, wait till the album comes out and listen to other songs on there. Her voice on the singles do not do her any kind of true justice. Give it time.

I've also heard her sing a short verse of Higher than Hope acapella and it was beautiful.

Well, that's encouraging. I think the reason I don't like her voice as much is because I was originally drawn to Nightwish because of the operatic frontsinger. I just don't like the pop sound so much. So maybe I'm mourning that loss a little, but I bet once I hear more of Annette I'll like her, too!

The album is definetly not poppy. Amaranth has a very catchy chorus, but that's really about it.
A song like The Poet and the Pendulum, for me personally is an improvement on a song like Ghost Love Score. It's absolute chaotic beauty, and reaffirms my view that Tuomas is a musical and poetic genius.

I really think hearing the album will make people sit up and take notice. It's at least worth a try, at least to give Anette a fair chance.

TPATP is the best song Tuomas has ever written, IMO ... way better than Ghost Love Score (mostly cause it's not a love song but more a ... suicidal song )

I don't like Anette's voice in Amaranth either, I prefer her in Eva and the rest of DPP, she has one lot of an awesomeness ^^ Seeing them live in December!! (if it doesn't sell out :/)

Oh yeah, and last two albums weren't actually operatic ... LOL do I love laughing at people who are trying to tell me that Nemo is full of 'opera voices zomg yes!'. Their last operatic song was Phantom of the Opera cover version.. in 2002. (see last.fm shoutbox for Nightwish. It's totally LOL, full of so-called intelligent insults)

The new album isn't officially released. But it's leaked online, so some of us *cough* have it already. Not that I won't buy it, I just had to hear it, waiting till the end of September was torture I didn't feel I could endure.
I firmly believe, upon hearing the album, fans who aren't sure will warm to Anette.

Tarja wasn't be be all and end all of Nightwish.

I guess it's just a matter of open-mindedness ... and the ability to move on. Nevernevernever try to imagine Tarja singing new songs if you hate Anette, instead try imagining the 'Pippi Longstocking from Hell' (name by Tuomas xD so it's official xD) singing older stuff. I've heard HTH version as well and god, it was beautiful. (the link is dead now though >__>)


Forgot to mention one thing...
Voice is kindof losing importance in NW - the vocals are now like another instrument and this has been happening since CC (Century Child, 2002). Tarja's voice was a wee bit too 'magnificent' for being just another brick in the wall (gotta love Pink Floyd eh) whereas Anette blends in perfectly.
Hint, listen to Eva when feeling down. It cheers you up, it's such a soothing song.
