Hate it Hate it HATE IT Stupid evil pop artist nowdays think that lip synching is the way to go....I cannot stand it. If you cant play your own songs live in front of an audience then your obviously not talented enough to perform. I hate people electronicalyl changing their voices so they sound 'better' and my pet hate is lip synching on stage. It is one of the worse kind of evils an artist can make. The second kind of evil is being a spice girl. |

LOL Jo, that last line made me crack up! Yeah, if you're going to be a performer you can't cop out like that! Completely defeats the purpose! |

I'm not a big fan of lip synching either. This is why I have some respect for Avril Lavigne because she actually sings her songs live. I mean seriously if singing is your profession and you don't sing live then aren't you not doing your job and in turn doing a diservice to the fans? Of course some singers may actually be doing their fans a service by not singing live ![]() |

From bands like Westlife or NSync or *insert new boy band flavour of the month here* I expect lip synching as they're not talented enough to perform live. imo But when you see a band that is supposed to be rock/metal do it...it makes me angry. That band was Linkin Park. They were supporting Deftones here a good few years back now and they didn't just use DAT tapes for things that they couldn't re-create live. They were miming to what could have easily have been there CD. Now I've never been a fan of LP. But this made me lose even more respect for them. Perfect example of a metal band sticking it to people that request miming to there song on a show is Iron Maiden. I've got one of there home videos of them performing on a Top of the Pops style show in I think Germany. Well, they're all swapping instruments and miming to the words. It is absolutely priceless and if I can find it on You Tube. I'll post it here. |

You know Jo, there is a reason why alotof pop singer do that. its because half of them cant sing. So they record it. Then fake singing. *cough I am thinking of one in particular, but I'm not going to say. |

I think alot of them do it because it usually sounds really bad when you sing live... most of the time all you can hear is the instraments. I'm not their side though... even if it does sound bad, I think they should still sing if its live. I mean, i'd be pretty ticked if I went to a concert the band or artist lip synched... I mean i could just listen to a recording at home... So yeah i'm totally against it. |

You have to admit, singing in front of thousands of people is a scary thing. I'll give them that. But if they want to perform, they need to get over that. Or do the respectable thing and not go on concert tours at all... |

It all depends on who the person is that you've hired to mix. If they're good at what they do then they'll make sure that the vocals are adequetly heard over the instruments. If they're a bad mixer thats when you get drowned out vocals. Random point of interest. I'm qualified to use studio and stage equipment, yay for learning stuff!!! The course was so much fun, if you ever get a chance to do It i totally reccomend it, ok so it takes three years to complete but well worth it. Stupid evil popstars. I hate the fact that you can be the worst singer ever, and still sell millions of albums because you look pretty when your dancing. Whats funny is when certain teen pop stars sound totally alike because their voices are so altered. So NO to pitch alteration!! |

Okay, now I agree and disagree. I say if you're paying to see a concert, you deserve the actual star singing by mouth. But if the popstar/person performing is sick and they still have to perform, I say, lip-synching is the way to go. |

I think it's an insult to the audience who have paid to see you live. You may as well listen to their cd. Quote: But if the popstar/person performing is sick and they still have to perform, I say, lip-synching is the way to go.
Yes, and I think they should tell that to the audience upfront at the concert. |

Yes, lip-synching annoys me too. There was even once these singers who didn't even sing the songs they had recorded! ![]() ![]() |

I heard of them - but i don't remember who they were lip-synching sucks. I saw something on newsround saying about how they were going to have an indicator saying if it was live or not, and some little kids were saying that they didn't mind, but I'd feel cheated if I had gone to see a concert and just got to see the band goldfishing. |

Lip Synching is the worst thing a singer or band can do to a fan. Some people save money, just to see them live, when they go to the concert, the artist lip synchs.I remember last year when Ashlee Simpson suffer the "Lip Synching" trauma at SNL... ![]() |

The thing you guys forget is that it probably happens all the time we just don't know about it. Sure I'd perfer it be live, but if I never find out then what's the difference? |

Ohhh That happens too. Some artist are so great at lip synching, that you have no idea if they are singing live or not.It depends on the person. Sometimes, I'm very good at telling who's faking it or not. |
