Haha, I was pretty young when Sleepy Hollow came out, so I thought it was scary, and then when I saw it again, I thought it was almost ridiculous. Love that movie.

And I have a feeling that it will be kind of gruesome. Just because I know what that musical is about, and I can't really see Tim Burton not having a field day with it. But it's going to have a lot of dark humor.

And it's not coming out Christmas Day exactly, normally when it says "this christmas" that just means in December.

The preview I saw said specifically, "Christmas Day."

Okay, but dark (or black humour) is alright!! I think I can handle it... but gruesome-ness.. eww... (I'm even keeping away from Eastern Promises because of the violence.. another missed chance to see Vigo Mortensen).
Ohh.. Christmas Day.. so long time.. and so soon.. *starts counting the days*

Well as I've said before, blood and guts don't really bother me. I'm the kind of gal that re-winds decapitations, so I can see how it was done and whether the special effects team did a good job.

And yet, I think if it was a modern film, with modern type violence, it might bother me (not that I've seen any, but I'm guessing). But films like the Patriot (which was quite bloody) and Sleepy Hollow are set so long ago, it doesn't bother me.

Also the gore in Sleepy Hollow is more often than not, used for comic effect. Like when Ichabod is cutting up the Widow and a whole pile of blood spurts into his glasses, and his reaction. It's hilarious. And the all the beheadings shouldn't be funny but it is! I can't help it, but because it's JD/TB film it's meant to be spooky funny, not really scary sppoky, if you know what I mean. :P

Oh. Well I feel like a royal idiot now. All the previews I've seen said "Coming this Christmas," and when they say that, that really doesn't mean anything. All the Harry Potter movies that came out "this Christmas" came out on like, the 12th.

Well the official trailer says "this Christmas".

That's actually pretty unusual for a big film to open up on Christmas day. Although if I remember rightly, Catch Me If You Can and Gangs Of New York (both with Leonardo DeCaprio) one opened on Christmas Day and the other on Boxing day, so it does happen.

Previews maybe be earlier though. :-)

Well the preview I saw was before it hit the TV and it was a survey about it, could be they went back and edited it.

I went and did a google search though. Said the international release date is December 21st.

Ooh, is it really? I wasn't expecting it out in the Uk until January.

That is good news.

Hmm.. not sure when it opens here, don't know how 'international' we are since it's not the US ;-)

Yeah, gimli, Í know your geeky obsession with blood, I wish I shared it so I could watch all the classic horror movies, but alas, I am born with too much of an empathetic and sensitive heart....
But I did enjoy the scene in Sleepy Hollow you were referring to!! Thankfully, I have some sense of (black and crazy) humour.... ahem....

I think international usually refers to anywhere that isn't America. :P I take it to mean Europe and Asia etc. It will probably vary for each country though.

Haha, yes I think I have mentioned it more than is nescessary actually. Although I haven't seen a lot of gory films or films that like to splash blood, the ones I have seen, have suited my morbid tatse perfectly.

Don't get me wrong... I know it is a purely professional interest you have in gore and blood!! I knoweth thy loving, caring self is not contradicting this morbid taste in films! :P

Hmm... international... yeah, I just know there is an eternity til it comes out!!!!

Hey, how about a movie like Edward Scissorhand... do you think I'd like that one?

I happen to have a morbid sense of enjoyment as well. I love horror movies. Not like slasher movies, necessarily, but other fun stuff. Like Secret Window. Awesome movie.

@ Ea - Hehe. :teehee: Although I am partial to skulls and the Grim Reaper and things like that as well, it must be said.

Yes, same here. After 4 months of it being out in America, Ratatouille is finally out in the UK, and I get to see it this Friday! Huzzah!

 I think you would like Edward Scissorhands. It's not scary, or creepy or anything like that. It's.. surreal... like a surban American town, takes in this weird looking guy with scissors for hands, and they think nothing of it. That kind of surreal you know?

@ Tar - I haven't seen a lot of horror films. After the 1950's most of them went into gore rather than good stories. I've seen a couple of psychological horror/thrillers. They can be quite good.

Haha, Edward Scissorhands is like a bed time story. Everything is perfect in their little town.

And JF, most horror movies can be pretty lame nowadays. I like psychological thrillers, normally those are still up to snuff, but there are some that I just can't help but love...like Nightmare on Elm Street (haha, Johnny's first ever part in a movie), or Scream (a horror parody, and yet still a horror movie.) I'm just a horror movie buff, actually.

Skulls and Grim Reapers... hmm, I can deal with that... (twas a lie, but I feel so left out here among the blood 'n' gore loving peeps).

Awright, I think I might give Edward Scissorhand a try then... it's just looks... freaky... I was afraid he'd start cutting people with his... ehh.. scissorhands!!

How about The Nightmare on Elm Street? Do y'all think I'd be able o watch that? :-)

Haha, Edward Scissorhands you'll have no problem with, it's not gory at all, the very little blood there is is really corny.

Nightmare on Elm Street however, pretty gory. Not really for you, I'm guessing. Unless you like people being impaled and being slammed into walls.
