I doubt anyone will actually read this, but I decided to post it anyway. I posted this on another forum, (where it's about halfway finished) and it seems to have gotten quite popular. I'll post the characters and first part in a little while after someone responds.

(It was an unusually hot day in Tattoine (ok, it’s always hot, but to Petra, it felt three times as miserable as usual) and Petra was behind Watto’s shop cleaning some machinery, one of the best jobs Watto could give her. Watto normally gave her even worst jobs, but being around machinery and her little brother, Ani, (short for Anakin). The time passed quickly when they were together, and Petra couldn’t believe how she had first felt about him when he was born. All that was past, and all Petra could think of was him. Her true love, the one who had captured her heart (and eyes) since the age of ten. Anyway, Zett was a trader and had been since the age of 14. She was 19 now, and still dreamed about a future with him. He wasn’t a slave, as she was, but a free man, able to go wherever he pleased. She dreamed they would get married and they could free her mom and brother. Yet that dream seemed beyond her reach. Why would he fall in love with her? They were always very good friends since they were both really young, he 10 and her 5, but she wanted more than friendship. She wanted a deeper relationship with him; something that went beyond just saying, “How was your latest trip to the Inner Rim?” And things like that. Now, she barely saw him, and when they did see one another, he seem preoccupied with someone else; a girl, Petra suspected. She even thought she might know who it was. Her best friend, Jira (not the older Jira in Ep. 1), always told her she thought Zett was cute, and would absolutely love to get to know him better. She would be so angry if that was the case, and if Zett was seeing her and her friend wasn’t saying a word about it. The last time she had seen either of them was a month ago, before they both left Tattoine for who knows what reason. Petra was jerked back to the present as she heard the bell in Watto’s shop deploy. Anakin was the first to jump up, and Petra was close behind.)

Petra: (thinking to herself) “Who could it be? I hope that they hurry and make a purchase because mom will be worried if Ani and I aren’t home in time.”

Anakin got there ahead of Petra, and stopped when Watto yelled at him.

Petra was still in the back of Watto’s shop when Anakin yelled: “Petra, there’s someone here to see you!”

Petra yelled back: “Who?”

(Zett, who she thought she’d never see again, came into the shop with an unexpected and not very pleasant surprise on his arm, Jira. The last two people Petra wanted to see together. They both had huge smiles on their faces, and both seemed very excited about something.)

Petra: “Zett, Jira. I didn’t know when I would see either of you again. You both look, um, happy.”

Jira: “Oh, Petra. You always were a little too naïve for my tastes. Anyway,

Zett and I are getting married as soon as possible.”

Petra: “Really? When did you get engaged?” (asking questions didn’t make her feel any better, the moment she heard the news, her heart immediately sank)

Zett: “That will be as soon as arrangements can be made. I hope you’re not too surprised, Petra.”

Petra: “No, no. I’m happy for you both. I’m sure you two will have a happy life ahead of you.” (as Petra said this, she didn’t actually mean it; it’s just courtesy and manners to do so.)

Anakin: (he had been outside talking to Watto, and was just now running back in) “Petra, Watto says we can go home as soon as we get finished cleaning that part of engine.”

Petra: “Thanks, Ani. Will you go ahead and start on it? I’ll join you in a minute, ok?”

Anakin: “Ok. Just don’t be too long, or else Watto will get real mad.”

Petra: “Thanks for the advice, Ani.”

Anakin: “You’re welcome.” (Ani gives Petra a sly smile, sort of a crooked grin)

Petra: “So, how did you two happen to end up together?”

Zett: “Well, I had no idea she was going in the same direction and place I was going, and we just started talking. I never knew I could have so much in common with a person, but I do with Jira.”

Jira: “Petra, you will attend the wedding, won’t you? It just wouldn’t be any fun without you.” (she was saying this in a sort of mockish tone of voice, but Petra really didn’t care. She had lost her true love, and that’s all she could think of at the moment.)
Zett: “We really meant to come back sooner, but I had to take care of some last-minute business.”

Petra: “It’s ok. I’d love to come to the wedding, if that’s what you want.”

Jira: “It’s settled then. You’ll be my bridesmaid.”
(Petra was absolutely in shock. Jira was never the sort of person to ask something like that of her. Petra didn’t exactly know what to say, but finally she mustered up the courage to say something.)
Petra: “Can I think about it? At least until tomorrow.”

Jira: “We’d never ask you not to think about it. Alright, until tomorrow. Well, we have to be going. Wedding plans, you know.”

Zett: “Bye, Petra.”

Petra: (in a sad voice) “Bye.”
(The bell rang as the two walked out, arm in arm. Anakin rushed in, saying he had finished cleaning the engine.)

Petra: “Alright. I’m ready to go home. Besides, it’s late and mom will be worried.”
(The sister and brother walk out of the shop, Anakin smiling and humming, Petra with a sad, grim look on her face. Today was the day her whole world collapsed around her.)

Ok, here's the first part. I'll post more when someone replies.
