I had this idea for a possible story, and I'd like some suggestions and/or comments on it. Is it a good idea? What could it use in addition?
[This is just a snippit, sorta like a teaser. I haven't added in all the names and details yet. Just thought you should know...]
"There is something that we don't let on to many people. Only our Dreamers and their Instructers have knowledge of it. Have you ever heard of deep, dark secrets?"
"Yes, hasn't everyone?"
"This isn't funny. Every person who wishes to become a Dreamer should know of it and take it very seriously."
"Ok, ok, I'm listening. So what is this deep, dark secret of yours?"
"Have you ever heard people joke about 'getting lost in dreams'?"
"I'm intrigued. Yes, I suppose I have. Why?"
"Well, something that we don't let on to anyone at random is that this is possible. Sometimes a Dreamer can be unfortunate enough to stray down an unseen corridor of a dream that they can lose themselves in...and not be able to return."
"They actually lose themselves in a dream?"
"They might. Remember, there have only been a few cases where someone has not returned from their dream. However, if a Dreamer searches for a dream for too long and in the wrong places or environment, it is possible for them to stay there, neither here nor there, but in a sort of in between place, drifting in the world of dreams. This is the risk all Dreamers take when they search for dreams to show an audience. It is the risk you alone can choose to take if you decide to accept our request and become a Dreamer."
"I still want to do it. Anyway, I don't think I would mind it terribly if I got lost in a dream, if it was a nice one."
"Hmmm. You are one, I think, who even now underestimates the power and importance of dreams. You will, in time, learn not to."
Anyways...that's what I have. What do you think?
