Running,
Am I running to or running from?
Losing,
Am I losing all or losing some?
The price I pay to run my way,
It's far to high, but I won't die.
The cost of stopping will urge me on,
See me there, but now I'm gone.
Running,
Am I running mad or running blind?
Losing,
Am I losing you, or are you still behind?
The cost of you, though very true,
Would break my stride... I know, I've tried.
The cost of home, drives me to roam,
A cruel land of burning sand.
Running,
Am I running out or running in?
Losing,
I lost you once, I'll lose you again.
But what will it cost...
This life of running?

Again, so pretty! Was there an insperation for this one? I always wonder how you come up with such wonderful poetry!

Actually, this one had several points of insperation.
First was my own emotions. I have always been "attached" (for a lack of better words) to the notion of nomadic living and never staying in one spot.
Then, (a few days ago) I watched the new Elektra movie. The way the main character was (as an assasin) always having to be on the move as well as the minor characters always having to run... and the cost of stoping or making friends was often their life.
Third I saw a two liner in a signiture here on the forum that had to do with running away. The whole aspect had been brewing in my mind for the last few days so I came up with this.

Quote: Where do you go when your running away, The cost of stopping is too great to pay. ~Amanda (saw this written in a washroom stall at a movie theater)
Would that be the quote?
I think it's really cool... I almost get the notion of someone running, and only looking forward, but running with a loved one. But because the person won't look back, he/she doesn't know if their loved one had stopped or fallen behind. Its the third verse that gives me that idea.

Yeah, that was the quote.
My ideas weren't really even specific for this poem.
I just wanted it to be "running." I like leaving a lot of my poems open ended. *shrugs*

I get this picture of someone running away from their life,
and it's just ocurred to them that maybe they should face things.
I don't know, but either way you take it, it's beautiful.
I mean, as always.

I guess I kinda got this one right then.
This poetry piece I wanted to give everyone a different idea. Kind of makes it so you think of things (sometimes) from your own prespective because of your own life situation... which gives everyone a different interpretattion.
