Oh. Aldarion and Erendis..such a sad story. to be completely honest, I thought the real problem in their relationship wasn't the sea, the land, or whatever, but selfishness. Aldarion could have been way more understanding. He just didn't think their love was worth staying for...but Erendis was so stubborn..if you truly love someone, you try to understand them, make little sacrifices for them. Which is exactly what they both didn't want to do. Erendis loved the land, and maybe her own stubborness, more than she loved Aldarion, and Aldarion was too much of a free-spirit to be bound by the land...and didn't love Erendis enough to make staying on the land bearable.

I think their relationship is like many relationships today. The main cause of people breaking up is failing to understand the other, and just selfishness...only following your own passions without trying to understand the beauty of other interests.

I mean, just compare it to the story of Arwen and Aragorn; they are the opposite. Arwen must've longed for Valinor at times, for her family. But her love for Aragorn made staying bearable. Aragorn didn't want to be king and must've longed for the freedom he once had; but to be able to marry Arwen, he had to sacrifice that freedom. And he did. Because he was unselfish enough, and their love was strong enough.

Erendis and Aldarion remind me of many people I know, actually. Their tale seems so tragic etc, but actually, it's a really common tale. Without the drowning part, that is.
