I love him!!! In fact he's my favorite Elf! He's so passionate and talented. In understand why some people would dislike him though, but I really admire his guts to have defied the Valar (even if it turned out wrong. He didn't know that after all. Not before the prophecy of Mandos).

Feanor is a much-debated character even amongst those that study Tolkien. I admire his industry, his craft, and his willpower, but, like humans, he is deeply flawed in character. He's something of an anti-hero: You can say he cause suffering by his actions, but he believed he was right. In another way, he was helping, as he helped draw out the greed and evil in others, and he and his followers and brothers left the Blessed Realm to itself. That was necessary, for had he stayed, it might have become fully corrupted itself, and then Morgoth might really have destroyed what Eru had created.

Personally, I despise Feanor, he takes all the glory away from Fingolfin, who got much farther!!! And I will argue that to the grave if any of you dont like living.

Fingolfin was not as great an Elf as Feanor. Feanor is greatest of all the firstborn, including the King of all Elves, Ingwe.
If you like Elves, then like the best.

I like him. He has such a strong character. I think he thought he was able to do almost everything, and he did what he wanted.

He was very impulsive - acted and spoke before he thought. And quite a firebrand, too - he seemed to be good at convincing people to follow him. (his name fits him well!)
I can't say I liked him much, though - he was too attached to his silmarilli, in my opinion.

I'm not sure if I like the character Feanor but I can't say I hate him either. He's a very complicated character. I don't like his attitude towards the other elves and how he's so greedy but once you start reading more you tend to feel sorry for him. It was good though that he led most of the Noldor out of Valinor because had the Elves forsaken M-E Morgoth would have made the land desolate and evil .

I like Feanor at times, but at other times he annoyed me (like when he asked Galadriel for some of her hair )

^^ Agreed. There was a while when I couldn't stand him, and would have killed him if I'd met him on the street (lol) but now I don't mind quite so much... I think the thing that made me angriest was that he was really cruel in taking the ships and burning them, leaving the others to cross the grinding ice-- and thus causing the death of many elves. And that's not even mentioning the kinslaying and the oath... it's really rather sad though. Feanor was very misguided, to put it mildly... but I don't really dislike him anymore.

i have a kindof love hate relationship with feanor
he did some really cool things and can be a good charactor at times
but he is mean and arrogant and has a big ego
he also causes pain and suffering because of his actions
he has a tragic story
in the end though i voted yes for him because he wasnt pure evil
