Hmm..I think she's a Maia...I doubt she a nyad because something Tolkien was always badgering Lewis about was the fact that Lewis used pre-created creatures (centaurs, nyads, dryads, etc...) while Tolkien made his own. Of course, he could have taken the idea of a nyad and changed it...much like he did with elves. (which were originally evil dwarves? Forgot what German book that was from...)
