Over the last few days, I’ve been getting some very unsettling messages from someone who claims to have private information about me. They’re demanding money, threatening to expose this information if I don’t comply. I’m really struggling with what to do here. I want to protect myself, but I’m not sure what steps to take. Has anyone experienced this? What should my first move be?

The first thing you should do is avoid responding to the blackmailer, as engaging with them might make the situation worse. Document everything, such as emails and messages, to build a case. You’ll also want to report it to the authorities, as they are trained to handle these types of crimes.
