Hey folks! So I’ve been thinking about getting an automatic gate for our front driveway. We just moved into a place with a long drive and lots of foot traffic in the area, so privacy's kind of becoming a thing. Plus, my teen keeps forgetting to close the gate manually. I’m curious — has anyone here installed a residential gate recently? How’s it holding up? Any regrets or things you wish you did differently? |

Hey MamaBear, yep — went through this about a year ago. I was tired of hopping out of the truck every time, especially in the rain. We ended up getting a single swing driveway gate from this crew I found online — Automatic Gate Mates. They were super chill and got everything set up fast. I live just outside San Jose and apparently, single swing driveway gates in Bay Area neighborhoods are pretty common ‘cause they save space. No regrets here — wish I’d done it sooner tbh. Just make sure your driveway has enough clearance for the swing arc! |

Jumping in here — I don’t have a gate myself, but my sister does. She said it makes deliveries less chaotic since the gate only opens when she presses the remote. Her dogs don’t dash out anymore either. I always thought they were just for fancy houses, but hers is pretty basic and still looks great. Makes her place feel way more “finished,” if that makes sense. |
