I've also wondered about that but I haven't found an answer... they just believe into Eru and the Valar/Valier

The thing is, I don't think there's another religion to counter it, so...why have a name for your religion when it's the only religion? I mean, even the Orcs can't deny the existence of Eru and the Valar, seeing as Morgoth was a Vala, and Sauron was a Maia, and they both were created by Eru...

yeah... I've never thought about that... the people in middle-earth knew that the Valar existed, but we don't know exactly.

Exactly. I wouldn't consider it much of a religion really- it's just the fundamental set of values that the entire world is based on.

Yeah, except it only has one God, and his "Angels" per say. The Valar are not gods, merely assistants. And they are not the only ones of their power - there are other beings of equal power with them, who did not come to Arda.

Yes to speak of it as a religion is not the right way I think... In a religion you belive in certain things, but the people of middle-earth knew that the Valar existed

perhaps just as we call the greeks' beliefs "greek mythology," we could call the elvish beliefs "elvish mythology." but that sounds too boring and obvious, so i would prefer just to call it "valarism."
yes. valarism.
i like it.
huzzah, i just coined a new word.

Equal power? Who?
