...I have no words. SERIOUSLY?
At least the article itself--not the quote from the crazy people wanting to boycott--seemed to also think that these people are ridiculous. Saying that PJ is getting rid of all the good vs. evil aspects of the book?! They do realize that if that were in fact the case there would be NO PLOT right? Seriously. "Hi, Bilbo. Here are 13 dwarves I'd like you to meet. For no real reason. Since there's no good vs. evil here anymore it's not as if we're going to hop off on a quest or anything. I just wanted them to say hi."
GOSH. People can be so RIDICULOUS sometimes!

My thoughts exactly. I'm readin the quote from the crazy group and its like...um...what I got out of the book was a tale of a hobbit growing in different ways and discovering things about himself, friendship, and heck, a dwarf wants his treasure back! I didnt get any of this Christianity vs Aethiest stuff that group was talkin about...did I miss somethin in the book? I know its been a little while since I've read it....

This is probably the best two-second summary of The Hobbit I've ever read.

Thanks for the article. It shows how ridiclous some people can be. It's obvious this group hasn't researched this topic thoroughly before opening thieir mouths.

So add a really ticked off dragon into that summary. Ashwise wrote: Thanks for the article. It shows how ridiclous some people can be. Yep, I knew it was going to be bad as soon as I read the part about Hobbit being after LotR, and takin readers back to Middle Earth where characters are brought back from the dead. Yeah, ok, sure, so you know everything after that is gonna be fact and truth. I certainly have no problem with the story, in fact there's books about LotR (showing it in a positive light) advertised in the Christian Books magazine my daddy gets. But yeah, just thought that article was humorous and odd.

I don't know if I should laugh or weep. How do people even come up with these ideas? *shakes head sadly*

I am Christian myself...but have to say that it is pretty sad that Christians have to pick apart every popular novel, or film, etc out there. If they don't like the film, or story...then they can boycott it for themselves. They don't need to trash it by calling it so called Evil... Well some things are evil but indeed The Hobbit is not! Its about a man discovering himself, and stepping out the door. There is evil vs. Good in it but it is not the main theme. And they shouldn't judge Jackson based on his beliefs. I believe PJ will show a story for how it was written (no matter what his beliefs are etc), with a few of his own quirks of course. Also, people should take in account that it would be almost impossible to convey a story exactly how J.R.R Tolkien imagined it, for PJ is not the author himself! Blab, done. Point: Chill out people! (The Boycotters) It is indeed a children's novel.

I really don't understand people sometimes. Not that this incident is going to stop any of us from going to and enjoying the movie. No way.

Havent started my Hobbit countdown, I admit. My countdown right now is for the new Avengers movie! Which opens in the US the day after my birthday, so thank you Marvel for giving me another birthday gift. That would be the 7th movie Marvel has released the week of my birthday...I think 7th, not sure, they may have released a few others. Aaanyway, I will be sure to be in theaters, if I can find someone to go with, because this is a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen, just like LotR!

oookay... These are the people who Give us Christians a bad name... Of all the movies out there to boycott, "The Hobbit" is the LEAST of your worries...
An besides that, Tolkien specifically SAID that his books were NOT alegorical (Sp?)
As a Christian, I agree, I love to Find Christ represented in any way these days, But, unlike Narnia, LotR wasn't Biblically based.
I dunno.. this just Ticks me off... I'm gonna go Boycott them...

100% agree with you Nenriel, of all the movies they put out every year, why pick The Hobbit to boycott? It is a fantastic family story thats made for all ages to enjoy, there wont be any language in it, no sex scenes, no drugs, so a good movie. There's absolutely no Atheist vs Christianity aspects to the story. Its just more group mass "hysteria", and just somethin else for people to complain about, really. But it is amusing to think that people are going to try to boycott it.

Exactly. These people are just weird... I see absolutely no harm in going to see a movie that was written (well the book at least) by a Christian with only the intention of writing a good story... to put his languages in.

Quote: Peter Jackson has once again stepped up as Satan's Little Helper to direct the two-part film and is once again using witchcraft and wizardry to peddle the film This part sounds like someone gravely misunderstood the term "movie magic". LOL what a great find! Obviously, as one of those evil Atheists, I will have to support our "Satan's Little Helper" by watching The Hobbit as many times as I can afford. Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!
