Aragorn: "Frodo?" Frodo: [startled] "It has taken Boromir." Aragorn: "Where is the Ring?" Does anyone else find that Aragorn (Viggo) says this too... evilishly (I couldn't think of a better word). He makes it sound like Aragorn wants the ring for himself, IMHO. |

I kind of noticed that after I watched the movie a few times. I think this was done to create further suspense. Like, Aragorn was the only other human, and Galadriel, in the beginning of the movies, narrated how humans were weak. So, if Boromir cracked, Aragorn would be the next logical one to crack. So.. yeah. I would have to say suspense. |

Hmmm.. Yeah, you're probably right. It's kinda missleading, though. ![]() (BTW, I love your banner/signature!) |

I agree with smeagollum that Aragorn's tone should add to the suspense right there when he said the line. We see the scene sort of from Frodo's perspective because we saw what happened between him and Boromir so we, as audience, would feel the same fear as Frodo feels in that moment where he suspects everyone to take the ring. But the moment after Aragorn asks for the ring the point of view changes when Aragorn comforts Frodo. Now it seems clear that Aragorn's tone was tensed/slightly demanding because he was concerned about the ring and that Boromir might have taken it and escaped with it. |

It was supposed to be suspenseful. But I for one didn't like it too well. |

Same here. It was probably meant to increase the tension and I like it. |

I think that temporarily, the Ring had taken Aragorn, with him being a Man and all. Or maybe he was just worried about it and it slipped out a little nastier than he meant it to. ![]() ![]() |

He was definetly worried about it because I think that he was the one that understood best what would happen, besides Gandalf and Elrond. And just what EA said, we are seeing it from Frodo's perspective. So, it is going to come out a little nastier than it would have from Aragorn's. However, I do like how PJ did that. It creates nice tension, much needed tension. |

Yeah, if he just said "Where is the Ring" in a normal voice, it wouldn't be as exciting. And tense. |

Yeah, it would seem kind of bland and stuff. I never thought about him maybe wanting it - I always took it as that he was just worried. But then I guess it did/does show that he withstood the ring. |

^ I noticed it, but didn't realize that the edge on his voice could've been more than just worry. |

Could be for suspense, but I think that the ring probably did bring it out of him - then he realizes it. He is also probably annoyed because Frodo went off. The way he says, "I swore to protect you" I think shows that he doesn't understand the way Frodo is acting. I think, anyone on such a quest would be a little stressed out, especially with Legolas telling you there is a shadow under threat growing in his mind! |

I think thats the idea of the scene you know to make people and Frodo think that it had taken Aragorn too, you know like a little suspence or surprise either one works for meh! ![]() But yeah thats what I think Im not sure tho ![]() ~Alane~ |
