Which is your favourite character from the Hobbit? Mine is Smaug of course. Though the poor old chap was too pampered to not see Bilbo's cunning play, even if most of this play was seen by him. Blahblahblah, I can't write, I can't write properly! And of course I love Bilbo, he is just too cute.

When I first read it when I was a kid it was definitely Gollum, having never read LotR Gollum was a huge mystery- like this random cave creature that seemed almost seperate from everything else in the story and he was also kinda creepy and funny- which my child-self loved Now after reading LotR, and effectively knowing the full story, I think Gandalf is my favourite, but I like Bard and Bilbo too - oh an Bombur- purely because he is such comic relief!

I like Bard. Maybe because he kinda reminds me of Aragorn in a way. He's just this random soul that has the courage to slay a dragon.

I think Bard could've used a bit more character development rather than popping up out of the blue and killing a dragon. But he's cool, I'd say I like him.

Bard is awesome!
The Rivendell elves were hilarious! And Thorin was pretty cool.

Of course I love the poor Bilbo! But also Bard, although at first I thought he was a bit of a creep *but maybe I'm confusing him with someone else, it's been a while since I've read the Hobbit*, and Bombur

Oh gosh! Favourite character...favourite character...favourite character... Okay! I think I'm ready! I like Balin, always thought he was cool and Gandalf! "To think I would live to be 'good morninged' by Belladonna Took's son as if I were selling buttons at the door!"

Alright...so I haven't finished reading it yet, but so far my favorite character is Bilbo (what a surprise haha). I don't really like the dwarves that much, since they were so eager to get rid of Bilbo when they thought he'd been captured. And Gandalf is okay...

For me it's Bilbo! After him it would be Gandalf and Balin!

I've always liked Fili and Kili. Can't choose between them.

My favorite characters are also Fili and Kili. But that's partly because I played them in my town's play version of The Hobbit.

Hadn't really thought of them as similar to Pippin and Merry. Now that would make an interesting discussion in and of itself! So is Fatty Bolger in FotR like Bomber in the Hobbit too?
