Can you imagine how much it woulda cost him to even just put in the scene with Gandalf and the Balrog going up the stairs?!! The computer graphics for the Balrog alone would have been ENORMOUS and woulda cost him a lot. I respect him for the work he HAS done and TRY not to critisize, althought certain parts do bug me. Oh and in one scene in Fangorn one of Legolas' eyes is green and one is blue...just thought I'd point that out
Yes, Peter Jackson managed a whole lot. Sometimes I wonder if the crew even made a profit, from how much money it took to create the whole movie. And don't forget, they actually had to build Helm's Deep, Edoras, as well as parts of Minas Tirith. That calls for a lot of money, and time. And also, they had to make the armor by hand - and there are so many orcs, elven warriors, and men - that accounts for a HUGE amount of armor.
I am so impressed.

Yeah I thought there were a lot of weird things in all three movies thanks to the fact that the movie had it's time restrictions. A lot of things are unexplained in the movie to give a greater vision of middle earth during the third age, so reading the books [or watching the ext editions, jk - still too little explained] is always recommended

Before I read the books there where many thinks I did't understand in the movies. When I read FotR I was saying things like this all day: Do you know why..? Have you ever asked yourself what..?
There were lots of things that were totally new for me, so I couldn't stop talking about it.
..going a bit off-topic. Whatever.

Hey she's not the only 1 my Elf friend .
Ok then, how about this every1 knows it, that is 1 of the big questions: Legolas' arrows!! He never seems to run out, but in the battle of Helm's Deep almost atthe end when he takes out hs knives his quiver is empty, my eyes are almost sure that his quiver was empty, but then scenes later you see him shooting an arrow at one of the ropes that r holding up one of the ladders of the Uruk-hai, then you see his quiver empty again and then at the very end when Gandalf is takling about the battles his quiver is full again!!
Well wich is it full? or empty?
PJ you r driving Legolas fans crazy out here!!

in the Battle of Helms Deep when Legolas does that trick where he slides down the stairs and fires arrows at the same time, what was he sliding on? it couldn't have been a skateboard but that was what it looked like

i wondored that when i first seen it.but in the book Legolas picks up arrows that are lying on the ground and i guess he 'recycled' them.

What did they do with the horses while they were in there?? B/c they had them again after they got out and were heading towards Rohan. Am I the only one who noticed this?
Pretty much. Yeah.

I haven't watched any of the LOTR movies three hundred times . but.....
Well, I just think Aragorn's whole "death" and visiony dream sequence is weird. And, well, un-booklike. *Clears throat* Now, then, on with less important things.
....Which will continue when my brain returns from wherever it got off to. It hasn't been returning my calls. ( )

Wow Tari, you sure are observant! I've never realized that!
Endorwen-I agree with you there...
Another thing that was funny was the elves coming to Helms Deep...that doesn't happen in the book!! Also, Treebeard seems less wise and mor dumb...at least I think so.

About Legolas letting Arod go when taking the path of the dead. In the book Arod freaked out, and Legolas had to get down and sing an elvish song to him. The horse was still a bit freaked, but it went on. (Aragorn was on his horse Rohyrn, and so were the other people, and thier horses wern't as spooked)

This is a sore point with Tolkien purists, and I somewhat agree that they were unecessary for the battle scenes, but it I think Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh explained what they were trying to do.
The character of Arwen is underdeveloped in the books, but in the Appendices and from her relationship with Aragorn as described in the books, they drew the conclusion that she was supporting him from behind the scenes -- a lot. After all, if the one you loved was going into peril, you would too.
Arwen represents a strong female character who doesn't get into the front lines of the fight (like Eowyn) but works to support her side from behind the scenes: Influencing councils, her father, and the elves in general to act. She's Aragorn's best ally and diplomatic aide.
She gets him some help at Helms Deep in the form of the elven soldiers.
This also was the way that Jackson and Walsh and Boyens felt showed the elves helping in some relevant way. In the books, they do defend the Anduin and Lorien against attacks from Dol Guldur -- that's pretty important, too. If that part of the river had fallen to Sauron's forces, even more orcs could have been sent into Rohan or Gondor from the north.
So, while the elves in Helm's deep is not Tolkien, really, it's justifiable.

Font face:Speaking of weird things in TTT, Why do the elves fo to Helms Deep? And when Haldir comes he says " I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell." Why would he be bringing word from Elrond if, Haldir is from Lothlorien?
