I love this scene. The fact that Elijah Wood is topless is like a major bonus lol! I believe that out of the whole trilogy, he is the only character we get to see topless [beside gollum of course lol] I also love the fact that we are given a brilliant view of how heavy the ring really is. Although we see Frodo struggling a lot throughout the Trilogy, trying to aviod the temptation, such as when the Nazgul are flying over their heads in TTT and Sam holds Frodo's hand as the ring calls to the Nazgul and Frodo's scar hurts more than ever, but when Sam is about to hand over the ring to Frodo, and he hesitates, we are shown how heavy the ring really is and i believe that when Frodo slowly puts it back around his neck and Sam seems overcome with the shock of the temptation, we really do gain such a good knowledge of the powers of the ring.

Does anyone have the same feeling with regards to this scene?

yea, i was shocked that the ring affected Sam too but i really wanted this scene to be a lot more like the book. however, the part i liked is that those who havent read the book really think that the orcs got the ring. and i really felt bad for Frodo looking at all those scars. and tru, it does show how much of a burden teh ring was. i didnt know that the chain was actually cutting through his skin. poor frodo.

Yeah the chain was slowly cutting through his skin, thus really showing how heavy of a burden the ring really was

Another interesting thing about this scene is the moment in which Sam hesitates to give Frodo back the ring, we hear a faint whisper of the voice of the ring saying "Keeeeeep meeee."

With all the open cuts and scratches he and Sam got, they were quite lucky they didn't get an infection [/end mom rant] *coughcough*

Ouch, really? I wanna slap myself now! Well anyway, I'm ill today, maybe I should take a glance at the film ;)

But yeah, in essentials, a very powerful scene also where we get to physically sense the power of the Ring. Very psycological actually, because it really is a burden to conquer evil and temptation... I dunno if 'conquer' is a right word to use, I just wanted to use a nice-sounding word... Besides I thought that 'win over' sounded too Danish-like. Anyway, you get my point.
