Right. This bugs me and I'm sorry if it's been asked before, but I want to ask it again.
In the chapter, Aragorn Masters the Palantir he drops the Evenstar, or at least it looks like he does.
But then in The Black Gate Opens he has it on again.
(Lol, those pictures made me laugh...his face. xD)
So, my question is, does he actually break the Evenstar or is it just Sauron tricking him and playing games with his mind? I mean, the obvious answer is no, he doesn't break it because he has it on ( ) but it still bugs me and I'd like other peoples' opinions.
Thank you for your time my darlings.

The short answer is No, the Evenstar pendant doesn't break, at least not in reality. Only in Aragorn's dream or vision.
There is actually a thread about it, and it was generally agreed that the real Evenstar doesn't shatter.
You can find it here:

Interesting--I had always thought that the Evenstar really did shatter. It was one of the things that bugged me about the RotK EE. I guess I'll be reconsidering all of that.

Yea. I was always in two minds about it, because of Aragorn having it later on in the film. But my question has been answered to my satisfaction now.

I don't quite remember the scene from the EE because I watched the original version last time, and there the Evenstar shatters in Aragorn's dream right before he is awakened by the guard and asked to come to Théoden's tent (to recieve Anduril from Elrond).
In the EE's it breaks when Aragorn looks into the Palantír if I remember correctly.
Well, actually I just wanted to apologize for the bolded words in the link I put. I did a search for the thread, and the search words came out bolded.

I was wondering, but it's ok, can't be helped.

The EE disc explains it more fully. It looks like they forgot to cut it out.

I feel really stupid. I always thought the Evenstar really did shatter...the first time I saw LOTR (it was the EEs) I kind of did this half-twitch-half-wince when he dropped it. I still kinda do. Thanks for clearing that up, I feel a lot happier about that now.

^I didn't either. I always wondered why Arwen didn't go up to him in the coronation scene and yell at him for smashing her necklace.

LOL! It would kind of undignify that scene, don't you think?
