So you know that one scene in the beginning of ROTK, where Eowyn hands Aragorn the cup, and then theoden says "i am happy for you both, he is an honerable man." what did the whole cup thing mean, I didnt get it.....

in anglo-saxon times, it was the queen's duty to take a cup round to each warrior, starting with the king and working down through the ranks. the way i understand it, it was a way of signifying the unity of the warriors, but at the same time retaining the hierarchy. rohan is based on anglo-saxon england, so it's natural that they would have such a tradition too. obviously rohan had no queen (theoden's wife was dead) so eowyn assumed that role as the king's nearest female relative.
theoden's comment has nothing to do with the cup giving itself (as you can see, it wasn't a courtship ritual or anything) - he obviously just thought he saw something between eowyn and aragorn as she gave him the cup.
hope that answers your question.

I thought Theoden was assuming in that Aragorn loved Eowyn, vice versa. Thanks for the explanation

I just felt bad for Eowyn when Aragon just rejected her. Even though he laid her down pretty easy about it..I actually plan on using that line on a girl I just can't break up with easily. "I can not give you what you seek." Great angle to tell a girl that you don't love her. I give Aragon mad props.

Hahaha. Well through my eyes, I think it would be better than saying "Well, your dad just came out of a huge spell casted by Sauroman and is a little bit on the crazy side right now, and your brother just died so I think you're just desperate for anybody to comfort you, and that's just not me, babe."

Sure, why not? [oh, yeah. maybe there aren't harmonicas in M-e] I can totally see Aragorn playing the harmonica!
The question is: Can he play the harmonica while drinking from the cup Eowyn offered him????

I think it'd be just below impossible--he'd have to be blowing out through the harmonica (without blowing out the mead, because that would ruin the instrument), while drinking in the mead. So on one side of his mouth he'd be blowing out and on the other drinking in. Just about impossible.
