I've got a question: I saw RotK for about 20 times in english, and I was very disappointed that Gollum's last words weren't My Precious!. And today my friend telly me she has seen RotK for the first time to the end, and she has seen it in german (We're from Austria) and she did hear Gollum say these words! I can't find any Screenplay in German where this sentence is mentioned, so I don't know if she might be right and in the german version Gollum really says it. I've only got the english version!Is anyone german speaking around who knows? :bye:

Also, ich habe RotK auf Deutsch und Englisch, und hab mir die Szene gerade auf Deutsch angeschaut, um das zu überprüfen. Gollum sagt definitiv nicht "Mein Schatz", bevor er versinkt, aber seine letzten Worte sind es trotzdem, weil er ja vorher oben auf dem Felsen, als er den Ring zurückbekommt, wie ein Verrückter "Mein Schatz" schreit!

Gollum's last words are my precious, but of course he doesn't say them as he falls into the lava, but i think, when he fights with Frodo. So, I've won, and my friend has lost!!!

I think he did say it. When he gets the ring, he's too happy to see that he can't talk. And when he falls into the lava, he's too obsiesed about the ring to care.

So he did say 'my precious' out side Mount Doom, but he doesn't say anything when he enters... if my memory serves me right. I'm going to have to watche the movie again...

Actually, I believe he screams it several times when he was celebrating. At that point Frodo goes after him and they both go over the edge. So yes, they were his last words, but there's a little bit of a gap between his last words and his actual death.

I'll have to watch the movie again and see if I can catch it... if he didn't say it out loud... he most likely was thinkit... you could see it in his eyes!

This is what I remeber: (In English I don't speak German)

Gollum bites off Frodo's finger *chomp*
Frodo screams and falls to the ground
Gollum takes the Ring from the finger
Throws away the finger
Lifts up the ring so it encircles his eye
he hugs it
He spreds out his arms
And says "Presious! Persious"
Him and Frodo start fighting
They fall off the cliff
Gollum dies
Ring is destroyed
Sam pulls up Frodo
We all shuold know the rest.

And if anyone wants translate that into German because I can't.

i don't know german but i can tell you what really happens in english

here is the acual thing:

(Sam wakes up, and sees Gollum and an invisible Frodo struggling at the edge of the pit. Gollum grabs Frodo's finger, and bites it off, taking the Ring with it. Frodo shrieks in agony, and falls to his knees, holding his bleeding hand in the other. Gollum holds the Ring before him in delight, ecstatic to finally have his Precious in his possession again. He cavorts at the edge of the pit, crying out his excitement and happiness.)

Gollum: Yes! Yes! Precious! Precious! Precious! Precious!

(....We cut back to Frodo and Gollum, who are still struggling at the edge of the pit, when they both lose their balance, and go over the edge. Gollum falls toward the lava, holding the Ring to his chest in joy. He hits the lava, and melts away, ......)

so yes they were his last words
