Both are into ruggedness and have an innate understanding of some aspect of the natural world. Which understands it better? Is one braver than the other? Is one better than the other? How are they similar? How are they different?

Well the rangers of the north are descendants from the Dunedain of Arnor, I've always really admired them. I've never warmed much to the Eorlingas. Also a great nation of middle earth.

I always enjoyed the backstory of the Eoringlas, personally. While the rangers are interesting, we don't get too much of them. I love the connections between the men of Dale and Rohan, and all the Middle-Earth histories that involve the men who didn't go to Numenor.

Yes, speaking of the background of the Eorlingas; what exactly is the history between them and the Dunlendings? After the Rohan first rode to Gondor's aid Cirion gave Eorl the country of Rohan to live in (before that it was part of Gondor.) But in the movie Saruman says 'The Horse-men took your lands!" Were there people living there before the Rohirrim moved in? I assume Saruman is twisting the history in some way, but still.

If I'm not completely mistaken, and I very well may be, the Riddermark originially belonged to the Gondorians, but the Dunlendings were living there. So when Cirion gave the land to Eorl, the Dunlendings were driven out. But the Rohirrim didn't "take their country", because it wasn't theirs to begin with, they just lived there. I think

I was always fascinated by Rangers and not very much into Eorlingas, to be honest, I didn't like them. Maybe its because when I first read LotR, I was skipping TTT parts due to being young and impatient.
But Rangers won my heart at whole line. I do think they are equal in bravery and such but I just prefers them.

I’ve always tended to write my RPs/fanfics based on the Dunedain of the North, with the Rohirrim being a second. Being my main RP/tale character has both bloods in him….

I tend to lean more towards the Rangers. They help keep people safe from the evil of Sauron, and instead of being thanked and looked at as heroes, people seem to look at them as strange, wild men, but still they keep the innocent safe. They have such a vast knowledge of the land and nature from their travels, better than just about anyone else in Middle Earth, I bet. As for the bravery between the two, I can't judge that, I feel as though both groups would be equally as brave when it comes to defending the things they believe in, or the land that they own. I do respect the Erolingas though, and find them to have an interestin history.

"What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dunedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?"-Aragorn

I think I prefer Rangers, because of their mysterious demeanor. I love Rohan, be we know far much more about Eorlingas than Rangers. That makes them more interesting ^^

I think both are way awesome. I love horses, so I like the Eorlingas, but the Rangers are awesome, too.
