Like it or not, many fans know only the movies, and also like it or not, the film has to be financially successful (and has some pretty big shoes to fill in that regard), so I can see why including some favorites from the films makes sense. I understand those who insist the movies follow the books to a "t" but I'm a huge Tolkien fan too, and I don't mind if the movies take on lives of their own, so to speak, as long as it's done respectfully to The Professor and his works

Yeah, its probably for the fans of the movies, bringing back familiar faces to help draw them in. I cant see him having anythin big though, i think die hard fans would have a fit if he joined Bilbo and the dwarfs.

I think it's great news! I mean, Legolas is the prince of Mirkwood after all, so it makes total sense that he'll be around. I'm not all crazy 'bout Legolas, but it's fun with some more familiar faces  _________________  pet me! :3 thank you very much <3

Yep, it would be fun so see a familiar face! Besides Gandalf's and Elrond's of course, oh and isn't Galadriel supposed to be in it too? Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.

i am one of the girls who are so happy that he wll be back! i don't really much care how long he i see him just as long as i do but hopefully he get more than 5 minutes, i really missed his character and i was hoping that Tolkien had a book of him hiding somewhere that nobody has seen yet (which i know is never gonna happen) just wishful thinking _________________

^ I'm really interested where you found out that information. A lot of interviews with Orlando, I've read have said that he's going to and from New Zealand for several stints of shooting, which seems to be a bit excessive for 2 minute cameo link_________________
