Cale's lip curled in disgust. "In all likelihood he won't sell. Not her. She may be thin, but she's got muscle. A good worker." he turned his heel and walked back to where the body of hisdaughter was burning.

Eonwe shivered. "Please, don't." she set the food down. "If set free, I have no home I can go back to. No where to stay. No money." she finally lifted her emerald green eyes to meet the gazes of the man and woman who had defended her. "I cannot go back to where I was sold from." she knew what would happen. If she returned to Rohan...she clenched her jaw.

Marylyn crouched beside the woman, her sword returned to its sheath. Marylyn gazed at the woman before her. "You can have a home and money without being a slave. Start a fresh somewhere else. You must have some skill that could earn you some money," her brow raised slightly. "If not, I will teach you a thing or two. You do not need to do anything that you do not want to. This is your life, not anyone else's." Marylyn listened to the advice that she offered and wished that she could take it herself. Unfortunately for her, her life was not just her own. Not when someone relied on her for their own life.

Nessa and Tawry followed the stream for a mile or two until Tawry saw signs of a campsite. The two stopped, poking around for clues as to where the man had gone next.

Areanne listened intently. Most of these people were trying to free the slave...
Areanne forced her courage up, but her hands shook madly. She stepped from the bushes.
"Maybe- maybe I can help you..."
Her voice shook and her shiny brown eyes darted from one stranger to the next.

Eonwe started. "No! Please...I...I don't mind...pleasedon't throw away your money..." she looked at the stranger, fearful, yet curious. "It is the only place I can live in peace. My brother--" she was cut off by Cale.

"Brother? Ah...now I know who you are...daughter of King Eomer of Rohan..." he sneered at her. "Your brother sold you into slavery to secure his place on the throne! He did right. Someone like you would get in his way."

Eonwe gaped at him. "H-how do you know all this?" she whispered hoarsely.

Cale stepped in front of her and knelt so his menacing eyes were close to hers. "Because. I helped him. I thought you looked familiar..." he pulled his sword and grabbed her, putting the blade to her throat. "Anybody tries to help her and she dies." he began backing away with her towards the woods, glaring at the rest of the company.

Nesselde was torn. How could she help the slave woman with out her getting hurt or killed?

Oldin's eyes shifted from the slave girl to the new girl who had stepped into the clearing, but quickly back again.
You idiot! thought Oldin as he watched the man leave. A plan slowly formed in his mind. He started abcking to the other side of the clearing where the thick brush obscured a person as soon aa they were in the woods.

Areanne's eyes lit up. Daughter of King Eomer?!
She lept forward with catlike agility and lodged a knife on the villain's sword hand. She bit down hard on his other hand holding the slave back, and though great pain seared through her as he flailed, she held on, red mist clouding her vision. He would not kill the princess.

Areanne owed it to Eomer.

Cale swore loudly, releasing both Eonwe and his sword. He smacked the woman away and pulled the knife from his hand. The wound closed instantly. His eyes darkened and he grinned easily. "I'm not that hard to deter. Might as well let me have the princess." he snarled. He reached out again, aiming to grab Eonwe's hair.

The little elf-girl snarled. "I don't need to deter you, just keep you from her." She swung her knife out and wrenched it into Cale's grabbing arm. The girl's eyes were wild, like that of an animal's.

"I'm sorry, but I owe it to Eomer."

She drew her second knife and lodged it in Cale's wrist. Areanne screamed at Eonwe to go, get out of here, run fast and don't look back.

Oldin emerged from behind teh man, holding a vine which he wrapped around the man's neck. Thankful for the newcomer's distraction, he pulled back hard on both sides of the vine, trying to choke the man. Not kill, just incapacitate.

Areanne finally felt black cloud her vision. She saw a vine wrap around the man's neck, and she smiled thankfully at Oldin. She dislodged her daggers and fell to the ground, head buzzing. She fought for consciousness.

Eonwe ran, back towards the only place she knew as home. Her legs pumped hard, and she didn't look back.

Cale blacked out, then fell in a heap on the ground.

Areanne saw the man black out. She smiled, red haze and black mist clouding her vision. She fell limp, sighing in satisfaction. All went dark.

Cale remained motionless, his big body in a broken heap on the ground.

Eonwe ran until her lungs burned for air and until her legs finally collapsed under her. She half sobbed, half coughed for air. She was trembling.
