Oh man, I just love it. (I saw it yesterday ... mwa) The scene with beavers made me laugh so hard! "I won't smell it, if that's what you want." (somethin like this ... =D) Peter ... no comment. Deadly cute - and I bet I'm cursed with his name. Ooooh he was sooo cute when he was fighting ... (lol, I know I'm strange) Aslan - wanna keep him as a pet. So warm, so cuddly. Mwa.
Lucy and Su rock, as always, and Ed was great too! Only Jadis should look bit more evil ... Aaaah, it's such a delight to be a twisted mind. =D
For all those who haven't seen LWW yet: Ya don't konw whatcha missing. : )

!!!!!!!
I haven't read your reviews yet, but I will after I just get this out.
It was AMAZING! I LOVED it!! Hands down, better then HP and the Goblet of Fire
((If I mention Harry Potter a lot, it's not because I think their alike, cause they really aren't, it's because it's another story that has been turned into a movie and very recently came out.))
First of all, I didn't love the book. I thuoght it was a great story, but I didn't like how it was written. There just wasn't enough detail for me (i.e. not Tolkien enough). But when you take that and put in on screen it's perfect because they don't have to pull the actual story out. It's just there, that's the book. Wheras, with a long detailed book (GoF or LotR), you have to get rid of the unesessary things and find the actual story that brings you to the climax. It's funny how The Chronicles were done last, considering it's an easier book to transfer to film. (In terms of the story, not technology-wise)
I loved that it didn't seem childish. It so easily could have, but Santa wasn't a really cheesy santa in a bright red suit and the animals were so realistic! And I nearly had a heart attack twice because of that darn wolf popping out of bloody nowhere. The suspense was great for me, and I had read the book. My friend who hasn't read the book was dieng of suspense saying "go, go, go!" about a million times. This same friend fell asleep during GoF. And we only saw it 45 min. later at night then Narnia.
The movie was fast, but we had those moments between big scenes for characters to develop that gave flow to the movie but wasn't boring I had a total LotR déjà vu when they're hiding from the white witch with the beavers in that opening in the hill. I could just see the hobbits hiding from the Nazgûl. There were a couple other moments where I though "LotR!" but I can't remember them. I'm not saying LotR and Narnia are so much alike, there were a couple of moments though.
I don't have any complaints. I've read the book but I'm not a hardcore fan so I'm not being overly critical. Wheras, when I'm watching GoF which I've read many times and absolutely adore, I'm very critical. Plus, hardly anything was a surprise because I saw so many clips and pics beforehadn. With Narnia, I read it once, I saw a couple pictures and one trailer. So yeah, I loved it, and I want to see it again If I wanted to read a book it would be HP, but if I wanted to watch a movie, it's this one, man. Awesome movie!
Being used to half of the book being cut out of movies, I expected for them to cut out more actually. They actually kept Lucy going to Narnia twice before all four of them got there. I expected them to cut it down, but I'm glad they didn't.
I didn't notice if they left anything out. They did add that whole crossing the river thing when the ice is melting and they 'lose' Lucy (wait, was that in the book? I have a terrible memory). I thought it was a bit much but whatever. They added Tumnus being in jail, I don't think that was necessary. Lucy and Susan's dresses were beautiful!
EDIT: I read what you guys said now
Quote: Kiran Shah: (Ginarrbrik) It feels so good to see Kiran again! I really liked him in the Lord of the Rings, and I'm glad he's getting the screentime he deserves for his hard work. Happy Of course, we couldn't quite understand him, which he might need to work on that a bit, but wow! I really loved him. I knew I recognized him! Wow! Good ol' Kiran About the siblings, I thought they were great. Kit said something about hair colour, but I had no problem with that. My cousins, three of them, two have dark dark hair, and the oldest one has blonde hair. Same parents. It just happens like that sometimes. Peter and Susan both had these big lips, and Edmund and Lucy had adorable freckles. They looked enough alike, and their acting was really good. Peter, yes I thought he was a cutie. *sigh* Quote: The frozen river scene was really cool! I've been anxious to see that one for a long time. So that did happen in the book? Or...are you talking about a different frozen river. I'm so confused! Quote: I think I like that Swinton made the White Witch more of a big villian that she possibly could do Aslan one deal better. [But in the end of course Aslan easily kills her. Sadly.] I LOVED her eyes, it was so evil, like looking into the depths of her dark soul, it was pitch black!
Yes! I loved her eyes! She's a very cool villian It's good that they didn't make her too afraid because then it's like well, what the heck can she do? Aslan will win. If your a huge fan of the book then I understand why you wouldn't like it though.

I'm almost halfway through the Magician's Son --- I was wondering, since in the Magician's song, Jadis is claimed to be a sorceress, why is she said to be a witch in the LWW? Is there really a difference in that?
Yes, yes, you have to read it again, Kit!
Magician's Nephew?
I don't remember that part...it's been a few months. I'm guessing that it's really the same thing, just a different name or title, you know?
Or wait! I know!
While she lived in Charn, she was called a sorceress, but then she destroyed it, and lived in Narnia, so was called a Witch.

Does Aslan kill the White Witch in the book? I read the last part during the previews, but I guess I missed that scene. I just can't remember!

I saw the movie yesterday. I liked it. Especially the battle scenes. It was so cool to hear the Minotaurs and Wolfs talk and then bellow and howl in the next minute. and when the griffins tried to attack the White Witch, she turns one into stone as she was flying and it fell and broke. that scene was cool, too. I like all the creatures in the movie, especially the Giants (they were so funny the way they were hitting each other in shoulders and their facial expressions), the Centaurs and the Minotaurs. they were awesome.

I loved it! They brought Lewis's world, characters, and story to life so well. I saw some of the BBC movies, and, let's just say, don't get me started. So I was really glad to see this movie being so good. I loved the children, great actors. And I loved the beavers! They were just like a normal married couple arguing! And I thought Aslan was excellent. You could see his facial expressions, and his voice was what I thought it should be.
I also liked that they (the filmmakers) didn't aim it so much for little kids. It's something everyone can enjoy.
I thought Jadis was great too. (and she is the same person from Magician's Nephew, I'm pretty sure) The only thing I didn't like was that really stiff dress and her hair sticking straight back. lol
Oh, and the music! I loved how they had that singing part throughout the movie! I'll have to get the soundtrack!

A+... Awesome, awesome, awesome! There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about it. I have never read the books, so I thought it was going to be a LotR wannabe. I was so wrong.
Anyway...
Ginarrbrik was so great! He had some of my favorite lines, "Do you want some milk?" and "This way for your yum-yums." I found his death really funny.
Jadis=SCARY with wand, REALLY, REALLY SCARY with two swords.
Mr. Tumnus-I would have liked him better if my mother hadn't kept insisting that he was Shia Labeouf. Even so, he was pretty neat, especially when he was playing the 'Narnian Lullaby'
Kitoky wrote: [WETA/CGI Work]: WOW! Weta has REALLY outdone itself! It must've been absolutely hard work designing and creating all those characters and the armor that they would wear. I really really liked the armor for Aslan's army, especially the centaur's. I was also drooling over Peter's and Edmund's armor. Oh how cool! I absolutely fell in love with the Gryphons. They looked AMAZING! And absolutely huge when it flew! It certainly reminded me of the Eagles in LotR, except cooler and with a tail. I loved the Gryphons so much! [squeals] However, I can't get over the fact that the Gryphon that said "They have come, your highness. With numbers far greater than our own." -- I can't believe that's Farmer Maggot !! lol.
My god, the CGI is amazing! The Gryphons were absolutely beautiful, plus they kicked butt. The battle, in my opinion, was just as impressive as the ones from LotR. The Centaurs are great as well.
The music deserves "Best Soundtrack" at the Oscars! I have the soundtrack, and only four of the seventeen songs do not have my highest praise. I especially love "Evacuating London," "Lucy Meets Mr. Tumnus," "A Narnia Lullaby," and "Can't Take It In."
Weta is dominating the Oscars again this year!

Yeah! Those movies were really bad. Heh. So, yeah, great to see them done right this time.

Hm...Chronicles of Narnia. It looks okay, but to me it seems like something I'd rather rent and critisize than go to the theatre and watch it. I know it is a children's book, but I heard that it takes about an hour for them to enter the land of Narnia. In my city, there have been some contraverse. Newspapers and articles say that Disney clearly wants a lord of the rings of it's own....I was totally like NOTHING can compete with lotr! But hey...critics are critics. Chronicles of Narnia were pretty good books, but even if it was a children's book I think there should have been more detailed battles. Disney probably wouldn't except it then into a PG-13 rating.
I'm looking forward for Tolkien's children's book-The Hobbit.

yes, the music was so great. I don't have the soundtrack yet, but I'll be getting it soon.
I loved the interaction between the Beavers. "Couldn't you have given me at least 10 minutes warning?" "Dear, I would have given you a week if I thought it would have helped". lol.

I really, really, do recommend you seeing it on the big screen. It won't be the same on a smaller screen.
Give Narnia a chance, because trust me it's worth it. It's different from Lord of the Rings, but it's not because it's a children's book -- it's because the plot and the story connects to the actual real world.
Gwenneth: lol Magician's Son, sorry!!!! My mistake. And thanks Gwen.

I'm looking forward for Tolkien's children's book-The Hobbit. I agree with Kit. I didn't think the books were detailed enough in battles (or anything actually) but I loved the movie. They did show the battle, and I didn't feel like I was watching a children's movie. Quote: plot and the story connects to the actual real world
Well LotR does connect with the actual real world...if you've read the books.

Well, I mean, like CANON. Like, the kids come from such and such place in such and such time in history. In LotR, you don't have that kinda sense. We know that Middle-Earth was shaped after Europe but that's it. ....Atleast, to my knowledge anyhow.

Oh, but the experience of seeing on a large screen! Hm, I don't think it takes a full hour for them to get to Narnia, but trust me...the beginning is NOT boring! One can tell that Walden Media (they are the ones who actually made the movie) didn't want to make a LotR. They portrayed Narnia, which has some similarities to to LotR, but they are completely different stories, and should not be expected to be the same. Detailed battle scenes...well, they really weren't detailed at all in the book. Lewis doesn't write books about wars. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe isn't a story about a war. When you think of LotR, you think of battles (especially RotK). But CoN is very different in that aspect. If I remember correctly, half of the books have no battle at all. I guess itt's just a point Lewis didn't want to stress as much as Tolkien.
Again, I highly suggest you see it!
