That's the idea. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha. :vampire:

Then we don't have a million Valar prancing around the boards... I think you could get there in about a year and a half, Kit. ;) Look where you are after less than a year on this forum! :P

Herenya wrote:
*thinks new members might be... not thrilled to start off as orcs* sorry, but it's true. I think we should stick to "good guys"... somehow. (does this make sense? It's just that some people see themselves as their 'rank' and may not be happy being an orc or something...) But I like your list, Kit! :D
And I agree with Arwen that Iluvatar is not quite... appropriate... :p
I agree with what's being said!

So far so good! :-D

Herenya suggests:
Hobbit
Dwarf
Human (being lower than Dunadan.)
Dunadan (I don't really think we need Numenorean too, since the Dunadan were decendant from them.)
Elf
Ent (before or after Elf?)
Istari (okay, so they are Maia. so what... :p )
Maia
Vala

??? What do you think?

Perhaps Arwen could be evil and set it so that no one has reached the vala mark yet?.. just an idea.

Eä mostly agrees with Herenya:
    - Hobbit
    - (Breelander - I'm not liking it too much but if we need more levels....)
    - Dwarf
    - Human (can't we call them something else... man.... mortal.. Younger Child of Iluvatar, dunno?)
    - Dunadan
    - Ent (imho the ent goes before elf, because the elves taught the ents to speak)
    - Elf
    - (High Elf maybe?)
    - Istari (I like the Istari idea, who cares if they're maiar.. they came to Arda and thus lost some of their "unlimited" power!)
    - Vala

I like the way the ranking system works today as I don't care much for ranking myself (no offence meant to Kitoky or Curunír) but I see how it might help make the forum stay an active community!

Nice list! I can't honestly say I've ever been overwhelmed by the ranking stystem. A bit too short and then there's "oh, look I've reached the highest rank..now what?". Not that I've had that problem *looks at count* but it does give people something to aim for doesn't it?

Well, I never really expected people to post quite this much  I thought a 1000-post rank would do it.

I'm liking Herenya and Ea's lists - although I dunno how much anyone would like being a Breelander. How about instead of "Human," members could be "Adan" (or "Atan" if you're going for Quenya, I believe)? "Mortal" is kind of cool too, although that doesn't specifically imply human.

Does anyone like the idea of incorporating the Rohirrim in there somewhere or the different types of elves (Vanyar, Noldor, Teleri)? Or perhaps a division of elves along the lines of Eldar and Avari?

But I agree that we need something else to work toward, kind of like on NarniaWeb (they must have levels going up to about 10,000 posts or something).

*feels newbie-ish*

What are the ranks?

And Uh, Arwen, shouldn't the rank "Vala" have an "R" on the end?

Arwen, I like Adan! *slaps self* Why didn't I think of it???

I can't figure out what I think of including the different elven races in the ranking. I don't think Tolkien meant them to be different, that some should be worth more than others, they just have different history, like the people of our earth! But since we need more ranks as post crazy people have already reached the insane number of over 5000 posts... *coughKitcough* And it's your forum Arwen, so you overrule Tolkien, lol!How would you put them? Avari as the lowest and Noldor as the highest???
The thing is that not everybody has read Silmarillion and wouldn't know the difference, so would they care if they are a Noldo or a Telar?
To solve this you could include Rohirrim (what's the singular form?) and Gondorian (instead?) because people would know them from the movie!

Ranks are shown under each members name and are based on the number of posts (except for moderators ;-)) so the more you post the higher rank you get! And so far we have Hobbit - Dwarf - Dunadan - Elf - Vala (when you reach 1000 posts, which a lot of people around already have).

Vala is singular, Valar is plural!

I hope this explains it overall!

EDIT: And Arwen, don't be surprised that the members care a lot for the forum, it's our second home!

I think it's a great idea, but I'm still working for Vala, so please don't make it even harder to get there! LOL :D

I've read the Sil more than once and I believe having different types of elves would confuse me! But I agree with what Ea said, and I still hold that bringing "orcs" and stuff into it mightn't work.

I have a suggestion:
What abou a rank called "Inventory" or maybe "Curse of A.-U."?
And you need maybe 15.000 or 20.000 postings to get this title.
